Do these types of dreams have a name?

Always had intermittently very vivid dreams for as long I can remember, the busier I am and the tireder I am, the more frequent they seem to be.

For the last 12 years I have (again intermittently) had awful nightmares of various content which I recognise whilst in them are nightmares, and I ‘wake’ myself up, and appear to be in my own bed and at first feel relieved, but then it soon becomes clear I’m still in a dream and more awful things happen (person in room / spiders in bed etc), and it’s a cycle of ‘waking’ myself up several times until I actually wake up. They’re absolutely terrifying at the time, but when I actually wake up I tend to go back to sleep and have a normal sleep and by morning can only remember snippets of the dreams and a vague sense of how traumatic it was.

Does anyone else have anything like this? They seem to coincide mostly when I’m anxious or extremely tired. I’m hoping if they have a name, I can work out how to stop them!

Yeah I have them when I'm super stressed or anxious. No name I'm aware of.

It sounds like sleep paralysis, I get it from time to time. It's terrifying, it nearly always happens when I'm under great stress or run down. The feeling of being awake but unable to move is so frightening. It's worse if I sleep on my back.

I have had this for years and I get stuck in a loop. I try to scream and writhe about to wake up but it never works. I am so anxious about it I get worried about sleeping sometimes.

When do I wake up I notice that I'm always too hot and I'm on my back, so I make sure the room is always cool. Because I have some control over the dream, I've learned to force a good dream until I snap out of it. When I eventually snap out of it, I easily can get sucked back under so I get up. It's horrible.
