Experience of squamous cell carcinoma?

My Granny is in her 90s and has had skin cancer for many years. In the last few months it's become a lot more aggressive, and she now has large sores on her face and neck Sad
One of them was around the size of a 10p at Christmas, and now it's more like the size of an orange. It's getting close to her eye and I'm so worried about what's going to happen. A nurse comes every day to clean it and change the dressing, but it doesn't seem there is much they can do to actually stop it growing or remove it safely. Has anyone come across this before, and could advise me what to expect please?

Squamous cell skin cancer is no joke. I've had it and it was - fingers crossed - stopped in its tracks with no other treatment by Moh's surgery very early on years ago. I still have a full annual skin check though.

I'm amazed she wasn't offered excision and radiation therapy with the first one.

Thanks for replying, @echt, and I'm glad that yours was successfully treated. It's certainly a horrible disease Sad
My Granny's skin cancer has been very mild and she's had it for over 10 years. These lesions are new, within the last few months. She's very frail and has some serious heart problems too, so treatment isn't straightforward for her. She did have some radiotherapy but it didn't work, the lesions have just continued to grow. It's a really worrying time.
