Do PR companies and political parties notice what's going on on Mumsnet?

I've been wondering if anyone is mining the gold that is the Mumsnet talk boards. Does anyone work for a political party or pr company and know if what's on Mumsnet gets back to decision makers? I like to imagine they all have their Mumsnet monitors who give weekly briefings on what's going down on Mumsnet. Anyone know?

The daily mail does and then picks threads up for “articles” / click bait

If political parties had any sense, they would run possible new policies past Mumsnet folks via one of those posts where you get a hypothetical 'what if...' They'd probably get a better and more realistic response than putting something in the paper which is 'leaked'.

I 100% know they do

LizzieBananas · 24/03/2024 17:54

I’ve been here since 2010 when the average Mumsnetter was considered a swing voter a la American soccer moms post-2008 US election.

CCHQ still lurks but not sure about the others.

Mumsnet is just a chat forum to waste time on... nothing important

Wonkypictureframe · 24/03/2024 18:00

They very much do. So keep talking.

Smilingbutdying · 24/03/2024 18:03

Of course they do. Read the papers.

I'd love to see the govt posting every new policy in AIBU to see the reactions they get.

Don’t be daft, it tells anyone who wants to know what a chunk of the population thinks about stuff.

ATerrorofLeftovers · 24/03/2024 18:19

The Tories are clearly savvy enough to do so. Labour are clearly not reading FWR, though the numpties.

Quitelikeit · 24/03/2024 18:20

I do think a nasty person posts about the royals on here

Something quite odd about it

ASighMadeOfStone · 24/03/2024 18:29

Not since the demographic changed post penis beaker I imagine.
The 2010 election was (only half jokingly) referred to as the Mumsnet Election and all three main party leaders came on to do webchats in the week leading up to polling.

Can't see that happening nowadays.

meditrina · 24/03/2024 18:47

They used to a decade or so ago.

But MN simply doesn't seem to attract the big hitters (eg for web chats) like they used to. So I'd be surprised if much attention were being given now.

Also in just about every election/referendum, the loudest MN pov has been the side that has lost. So "winning" MN might not be seen as a prize any more

mynameiscalypso · 24/03/2024 18:49

They definitely do particularly when new policy announcements are made. You also occasionally see PR's / companies pop up on threads about them.

In case they're listening:
