Have you ever regretted selling your house?

I love my house around 80%. I wish it was slightly bigger and in a better area. I completely renovated it, made it look nice but I’m feeling lost in life.

I want to move on and do positive things, like move to the area I’ve always wanted to live. But I’m scared I’ll regret it.

If we hadn’t sold, then sold again, we’d be mortgage free now age 50.
Only moved due to noisy neighbours. It upsets me now when I’ve still got 10+ years left.

If you’re feeling lost in life that’s surely a ‘you’ issue rather than a ‘house’ issue? Just wondering if you would still feel lost after spending £££ on a move/mortgage I suppose, if so what would you have gained?

I think I need something to be excited about to motivate me in other areas?

Hopefully that makes sense or I just sound like a loon.

Our house is on the market, but without interest. I have very mixed feelings about it because I love the house, but it’s too big for us now and we could do with freeing up some money.

If we do move, I’m sure I’ll cry buckets. If we don’t, we’ll be economising even more and I don’t know how.

Have you been looking?

I deeply regretted selling a house.
I sold it for the sake of renewing (fresh start situation) a relationship.

Absolutely the worst decision I’ve ever made but out of the ashes I now have a sweet little house in a lovely area.

Looking back I think it was meant to be and I’m happy so I’m not moving again!

There’s no point in looking for another property unless there is interest and offers on ours. I have no desire to get excited about a property that I have no chance of getting.

Never, I have always been 100% ready to move, even from homes I have loved, particularly the house I raised my family in, for 18 years, life changes and sometimes you need too move forward. Life is too short for regrets. No one moves given the costs and hassles without good reason. Good luck OP do what’s right for you, wishing you all the best.

The house itself, no. I have regretted moving out of the area though.

PanadTe · 24/03/2024 17:08

We’re just about to put ours on to free up potentially up to £200k. To buy a smaller, cheaper house in the same area and be mortgage free.

I’m worried because I love this house and the other one is much smaller… but nothing sounds better than mortgage free at 40!

The people we bought our house from regretted selling it. I know because they moved locally and I sometimes bump into them and they tell me this fact. Every. Single. Time.

So if you go, leave with no regrets.
