What’s Everyone Up To For Easter?

RabbitsRock · 22/03/2024 12:29

I haven’t had much chance to think about it although have bought some eggs including creme eggs & caramel ones. Bought hot cross buns today. Can’t be doing with all the different flavours! DH & I are going to see a musical on Good Friday, both working on the Sat then both off Sun & Mon. We might see my folks on Easter Sunday. Not much else planned. We’ll see what the weather does!

Sanding the bathroom walls. Eating hot cross buns. Not necessarily at the same time. Weather looks like rain, just for a change 🙄

Going metro, taking the eldest birthday shopping and arcade on the Saturday.

Otherwise not much, I don't get the big celebration thing with Easter. It's hardly Christmas.

SirChenjins · 22/03/2024 15:57

Nothing planned - DS has exams coming up so we’re staying put so he can at least pretend to revise.

EmilyPlay · 22/03/2024 15:58

Nothing planned. We don't really make a big thing of Easter. Probably just eat a fair amount of chocolate.

WhateverMate · 22/03/2024 16:02

Booked a 4 day caravan break for just DH and I.

Really looking forward to it and couldn't care less what the weather wants to do!

BabyImReadyToGo · 22/03/2024 16:10

Easter is massive in my house.

I'm breaking up from work today.

Tomorrow we'll get all the Easter decorations down from the loft and decorate the house like an Easter grotto.

Then its a take-away tomorrow night.

Next week will be just chilling out - batch cooking, crafting, reading, shopping. I'll make some Easter eggs, some chocolate slabs, some Easter chocolates and give them out to a few friends. I'll wrap up all the presents too over the week.

Good Friday won't be anything different from the rest of next week.

Saturday will be presents via a treasure hunt, wine and a take-away.

Sunday will be a roast chicken dinner.

BH Monday will be freezing left-over food, putting presents away.

Tuesday will be taking down and putting away the decorations, and preparing to go back to work.

We're two professional adults, no kids, not religious 😅

troppibambini6 · 22/03/2024 16:16

We are going to Lytham with six other families. We do it every year the itinerary this year is:

Good Friday- we've hired beach huts and will have picky bits (sorry!) and wine followed by fish and chips at sunset cricket, rounders, football in the beach.

Easter Saturday walk to the lake, go on boats ice creams, swimming at the hotel and games with the kids.

Easter Sunday- have booked a pub with live music for Sunday lunch

Easter Monday- heading home and going to my mums for an belated Easter lunch.

reluctantbrit · 22/03/2024 16:34

Friday and Saturday - checking out potential uni cities with DD
Sunday - Nice breakfast with chocolate eggs, DD goes riding, small lunch, large roast in the evening.
Monday - sorting out the garage and prepping lots of paperwork to sort out with my mum who recently moved into a care home.

NewLifeOrNot · 22/03/2024 16:42

Going to the ballet on Friday with DC and my mum.

Other than that, no real plans. Will likely do an Easter egg hunt for the kids at some point but will play it by ear depending on the weather as it’s always better to do in the garden. Will also visit some NT places as the DC love the Easter trails mainly the chocolate eggs at the end probably.

CommeIlFaut · 22/03/2024 17:09

I love Easter. My tulips are now out and the evening are brighter. Here are our plans:

Good Friday: DD and I are shopping at Westfield (a rare treat.) DS and DH off for a London day out

Easter Saturday: Friends are visiting for a long lunch and games afternoon. DD15 will go to church for the Easter vigil (she’s in the choir)

Easter Sunday: Church in the morning and off to MIL’s for lunch and 80th birthday celebrations. She’s next to Regent’s Park so we’ll wander out with various small children and older folk. There’s always an egg hunt!

Easter Monday: Cambridge for a three-generation bbq with my best school friends from far flung corners, their parents (those that are still about at least) and children. Can’t wait!

Toomuch44 · 22/03/2024 17:32

Taking my Mum to the cemetery (to my Dad's grave) on Good Friday, otherwise she'll have one on her until I do. It means we have to see her every Good Friday as she thinks it's unacceptable to wait until Saturday or Sunday. Only good thing is that I add lunch onto it, so we can say we've seen her - she cares, but isn't easy and I'm very lucky DH accepts we have to see her. We'll probably walk around to my BIL's at home point to see them and give my niece and nephew their Easter Eggs. DD is away over the weekend, so I think we're both hoping to go for a walk up and over our local hill, maybe take a sandwich if it's dry.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 22/03/2024 17:36

My Dad is recently widowed so he is coming over for a roast dinner. I've bought the kids easter eggs and DH a couple of eggs. I would bet my life that DH hasn't gotten me any chocolate 😄

Other than that, I'll just be looking forward to a few days off work!

weegiemum · 22/03/2024 17:42

Dh is a GP in a rural area and on call from Thursday night to Tuesday morning. So we've rented a wee place and I'm going too, it's usually quite quiet (he covers a huge area but very thinly populated). Nice drives through pleasant countryside if he does get called out (we live in the city so it's going to be a lovely change of pace!)

frozendaisy · 22/03/2024 17:46

Shouting "jesus died on a cross for your sins and this is how you repay him" at the kids a lot

Eating chocolate and making everyone listen to poems about eggs and rebirth

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/03/2024 17:49

I love Easter
When the DC were little we decorated and had an Easter Tree (branches painted white in a tub of putty which was set in a felt Easter bucket ) hung with egg decorations . This was well before you could buy pre-made ones

Our cats would think all their Christmases had come at once if we decorated so -No Trees

I have glass tealight holders that get filled with those tiny yellow chicks
Our garden has white bloosomed shrubs and trees that look lovely
Wreath for the door

We alwats plan Good Friday as a Work In The Garden Day .

I've asked DS and DD to give me meal ideas , though Good Friday will be grills and chips , Sunday will be a roast . Monday I'll do pizza from scratch .

I need to buy Easter Eggs ( DD has hers but I need one and something for DS)
We're eating our way through all the HotCross Buns to find our favourites Easter Grin

I;ve got a list of things I plan to do , mainly sorting through clothes , general tidying etc.

Favouritefruits · 22/03/2024 17:54

My youngest son is obsessed with rabbits so thought I’d book to take the kids to a breakfast party with the Easter bunny, was only £5 per child thought it was a bargain, git the kids all excited for it… the pub have just rang and cancelled our booking as we were the only ones booked on! I’m super disappointed so need inspiration on another fun activity instead

RabbitsRock · 22/03/2024 18:55

Favouritefruits Asda have some cute bunny plates, dishes etc. The Range has lots of bunny stuff including string lights with bunnies & carrots which I think are only about £2

PILs are coming for lunch on Sunday. We’ll have an Easter egg hunt too.
On other days we’re going to see Dune II and cycling to a BMX track (DS loves it) then a country park for a picnic.

I’ve never heard of anyone celebrating Easter to that extent, especially decorating your home. I now have a big grin on my face and I’ll probably think of you next week. I hope you have an eggcellent time 😁

hattie43 · 23/03/2024 07:35

Good Friday is off to celebrate friends birthday at a posh restaurant

Sat is being spent with good friend for a long beach walk with our dogs and then a pub meal

Sunday off to see the mother for eggs , gifts , flowers , big roast

Monday hopefully a day at home because I want to start sorting my tubs / baskets and general tidy up in the garden . If raining a takeaway and a date with Netflix .

Happy Easter everyone

hattie43 · 23/03/2024 07:37

@Lurkingandlearning

Me neither but it sounds fabulous

Decafflatteplease · 23/03/2024 07:52

We are Christians so it's important to us 😊

Friday will be church in the afternoon, there's a buffet and it's child friendly activities. Always fish for dinner not sure what yet.

Saturday we will go out for the day, probably national trust.

Easter Sunday I always like to get up early and reflect in the quiet of the morning. There is a 6am garden sunrise service at our church but I'm not that dedicated 😂😂 church will be later on in the morning after our egg hunt at home!

Then after church we will open presents from grandparents, I've got some gingerbread eggs for DC to decorate, we will lay the table we've got Easter napkins and crackers. The dc will open their presents off the grandparents and then we will have a roast dinner. And hopefully a sinmel cake if I can find one in the shops!
