OTC Cold tablets for sneezing and runny nose - urgent

Please help Mumsnetters I have a ridiculous cold - don’t feel poorly just sneezy and really runny nose. Big meeting later this morning and I really don’t want this to hamper. What’s the best cold tablet you can take in day for stopping the sneezing and runny nose!

TIA

Is it a cold or hay fever?

Sudafed mucus relief (tablets or spray, green packaging) will dry up the runny nose.

@behindher wondered that at first but DH started yesterday at work also - DC have it.

Echinacea tablets - I get them from Boots , not sure why but they work for me

Yes, if you dry up the mucus it should stop the irritation that's making you sneeze.

I'm the same and Sinutab worked for me when I had to go into the office this week.

You need fexofenadine, a nasal spray (for hay fever, its tree pollen season now, you can develop hayfever at any age) and to dry mucus, phenylephrine hydrochloride, or even better, pseudoepherdrine (not sure of spelling) but they keep this behind the counter so you have to ask.

They won't stop the sneezing really, no. They work, in part, by dilating your sinuses, basically, to allow more snot to run out so you don't have a blocked nose. If it's already running out loads, you may find a cold tablet is counterproductive - as may just make it run more! An actual runny nose (as opposed to a blocked one) can be hayfever. I'd be inclined to try a saline nasal spray (the sterimed one? it has a dolphin on it) because that will clear out the nose but also soothe some of the irritation that's causing the runny nose. I'd also probably take an allergy tablet.
