How to get from Marylebone to Kings Cross on a tube strike day

We don't have long enough to walk, and will have luggage. Trip booked in advance and cannot change it. Fortunately will be in London in the middle of the day, but do we have any hope of getting a bus? Or a cab? If we miss out train from KX will we be allowed on the next?

CityMapper suggests 205 or 30 bus. It will be fine, buses mostly easier than tubes anyway!

If your tickets were booked as an all-through journey i would suggest you talk to the ticket seller about the transfer time problem. I would think they ought to honour the tickets on the next train out of kings cross but these things don't always happen rationally. If you bought separate tickets for the different journey legs then it's not their problem.

But I think you've got a good chance of getting a cab yes. Not sure a bus is a sensible plan - google reckons walking would be 38 mins and a bus would be 30 mins!

Last time I was in London on a tube strike day the buses were madness. Huge queues, delayed arrivals of buses, more delays caused by passengers who’d clearly never taken a bus before and thought they could direct the driver to their exact address … Which also meant taxis were very much in demand - so it took a bit of waiting.

I was attending a film screening - several people who’d had to cross London were still arriving as the end credits were rolling …

Unfortunately I can’t remember what train companies were saying to people with advance tickets who’d missed their train; it might be best to enquire beforehand.

Black cab
Pricey perhaps but they can drive in bus lanes

There will be loads of black cabs waiting outside the station

If it's the April 8th one you will be fine. I commute into work mainly full time and Mondays are still not back to normal.

(Although there are train strikes that day too so always worth checking)

If it's the Saturday one (4 May) I think that's the long weekend Saturday - I would just book a cab in advance if you're worried (like an Addison Lee).

Id seriously consider walking anyway if I had a pile of luggage to flog onto the tube.
You could try for a taxi

Oh no! But maybe your premier wasn't at lunchtime?

Thanks everyone. The train strikes don't directly affect the lines we are using on the days we are travelling, but obviously there could be disruption because trains are still in the wrong place.
Yes, Monday 8th.
