I'm looking for an after shower robe. They one I use now is the fluffy keep you warm kind, so wrong for drying. Previously I had a towel like one.

Would a waffle robe work? Or should i look for a towel like one? thanks!!

To dry you instead of a towel?

I like towelling for winter but waffle for the summer. 100% cotton always.

I always assumed people dried themselves with a towel and put the robe on afterwards. I live and learn!

the make robes made out of towel material, so much easier and you only then need a towel for your head! I was wondering if waffle robes work the same...

I dry myself with a towel then put on my robe. I've never heard of actually using the robe to dry yourself with. Doesn't it feel all damp and cold after a while?

CremeEggOverload · 26/03/2024 17:20

How odd. I've only done the drying myself on a robe in an emergency and it's cold and horrid. Water will still run down your legs surely.

Towel then robe.

Never damp at all. The towel robe is great at wicking moisture. Ive just been using the wrong kind of robe recently, I need to go back to a towel robe!

Yes, you gotta kinda dry your legs with the robe flaps...

I have a lovely huge very heavy Terry cotton robe, it goes down to my ankles and has a hood, so my studiedly long hair gets drip down my back. I love it! It dries and keeps me warm.
I find microfibre useless for drying, the fluffy super soft poly ones are horrible if you're wet. The cotton waffle ones are okay, but you still get the odd unpleasant drip as the fibres aren't as absorbent as the Terry towelling.

thecanadianloon · 26/03/2024 18:47

Doesn't should read doesn't drip down my back as the hood catches the drips

To all those who think it's odd not to just dry yourself with a towel: you don't know what you're missing. When living in a cold house it was lovely putting a nice long toweling bathrobe on straight out of the shower. Could then faff around cleaning teeth, drying hair and feet whilst being warm by which time the test of me would be more or less dry... would then change into dry clothes / pyjamas / dressing gown and hang towel and bath robe up to dry.

I still think that’s normal behaviour!

Bath robes are the best. They were totally the norm for us growing up so really surprised to read these responses.
