Recurring boil - ouch!

Sorry for the early morning tmi post ! But I have a recurring issue with painful ingrowing hair/boil/cysts in my pubic area, usually the same specific area. I use hot flannels, baths etc normally and they tend to burst by themselves. But this time it's done that but I can still feel a mass under the skin. Is this something I need to go to the doctors about? Anyone else had to seek treatment for it? It's literally a right pain as I get them so frequently.

I had to go to Dr's about same thing in same area, asking if she'd pop it and drain it. Was told a resounding "Noooooooo!!" and that they like to treat them 'from the inside'. So had a course of antibiotics and antibiotic cream.

I also suffered with boils and abscesses in my pubic area, same place twice. The first time the practice nurse squeezed/drained it every few days until it stopped making puss. The second time, same place, it was a lot more painful, so I went to the walk in centre, who said I needed to go to A&E and get it sutured. I got given 2 lots of strong antibiotics and it was cleaned and packed every 2 days until the wound healed over, about 2 weeks. The Consultant told me I was to get antibiotics at the first sign of it returning, which it has now twice, but antibiotics have worked. I did query whether I was right to go to A&E but the Consultant said I did the right thing,

Thank you for your replies, I am wincing slightly at the idea of anyone touching or squeezing it, can you tell I'm squeamish?! Okay, so as it's recurring and feels a large area, it may be worth at least speaking to the GP. I am a bit guilty of trying to sort things myself I have to admit.

That popped up on a Google search. I will read more. The images frightened me 😬

I have always been prone to these, particularly around my period. I control mine by washing the area with Hibiscrub (you can buy it on the internet but check whether it's suitable for your skin if it's a vulval thing) or zinc soap.

I think for most people HS is just the odd big pimple/boil, but it's important to start controlling it early. I agree that the images on the internet are terrifying but I think they're late stage cases.

Yes I have noticed its usually around my period too! Wonder why?!

Magnesium sulphate paste should be able to clear it in a couple of days. I suffered for years getting them on my bum and not being able to sit down without wincing. Put the paste on and then put a loose dressing over it.
