Keep me company today?

I feel absolutely awful today, I just want to cry and cry. Everything is difficult. Eldest having a terrible time; we’re all struggling more than ever without late DH. It’s been so so long now doing everything myself. I have six Teams meetings today between 9 and 2 and I need to look like I know what I’m talking about. Which I do, after 16 years here, but I’m so full of doubt and sadness today. I’ve tried so hard and for so long at home and at work and it feels like nothing sticks.

Please send solidarity and tell me I am not useless. I am wfh today which is good in some ways, but I’m so lonely.

Oh love, there's no 'should be doing better', and it sounds like you are doing absolutely brilliantly working, coping, supporting others.
Just a big big hug and flowers from me. Be easy on yourself. Flowers

Snap!

Love the cat picture!

I'm so sorry you're struggling today. You've got a lot on your plate.

heldinadream · 21/03/2024 11:48

@nozbottheblue 🙂 so true isn't it? That 'should' just isn't helping.

caringcarer · 21/03/2024 11:52

💐Try to take a few deep breaths in between meetings and pop into garden for a few minutes to get fresh air. You're doing well you're just a little bogged down today. Don't be hard on yourself. If you can afford it get a takeaway for dinner then you can chill.

TheShellBeach · 21/03/2024 15:53

How are you getting on?
I've been thinking about you all day.

User884721 · 21/03/2024 17:03

Hope you got through your work day and your taxi duties this evening go smoothly.

No useful advice for the bigger issues though. Take care x

StJulian2023 · 21/03/2024 22:35

Thank you for keeping my company today, everyone 🤗 finally off duty until tomorrow now both DC are in bed. My neck and shoulders are so stiff from stress and I am so tired but I just need to sit for a bit without anyone demanding anything. I’ve got Alexa playing relaxing massage from Spotify and am having late supper of some kéfir yoghurt and berries (more because I recently read Food for Life rather than being terribly middle class, honest)

Also that was good advice to step outside for a bit if I could earlier, I did have 5 mins in the garden. I noticed two things in particular - evidence of some sort of pigeon war on the trampoline, and my lovely magnolia (a wedding present back in 2007). I thought you’d prefer a picture of the latter but just shout if I’m wrong 🤣

I'm so glad you got through to the end of the day and can now relax.

heldinadream · 22/03/2024 05:46

The magnolia is stunning OP. Here's mine. I'm glad posting here helped a bit.
Definitely curious to see evidence of the pigeon wars, but I am a very visual person. So pic would be lovely but only if you have a minute for it. I'm guessing you've got another full on day. Hope you get to relax at the weekend.
So let's celebrate magnolias and spring!

Loving the magnolia pics, so envious of all of you with these in your garden!
Hope you're okay today OP.

Hello, it’s me again, after some company and motivation once more!

Today I’m back at work after just over two weeks off (wfh today). I have one child at school and the other asleep in bed (earache and sore throat). My ‘holiday’ was part fun, part trying to get eldest to revise for mocks (ADHD, demand avoidant…).

I have had one really good meeting already today (an exciting project really coming on) and now I really must get through all the post-holiday emails and write a nice fresh to do list. But I don’t want to! And I need to get a wash on.

What are you all up to today? Feel free to share the things you need to do and I’ll check later to see if we’ve collectively Sorted Things Out. Photos of pets working from home also welcome (my cat is SO busy today).

I’ve done a comprehensive list of what I need to do next for this one particular project. Now quickly getting a wash on and making a cup of tea before getting through all the emails. Actually it might be a Lemsip.

Heya - I've got some paperwork and tidying to do. Zero energy and horrible sciatica. Thinking to break tasks up into an hour by hour thing.
So shortly will get dressed and then do an hour of admin, then get some rubbish bags filled with declutter stuff.
How are you feeling?

YouAreNotMyCat · 15/04/2024 10:54

I am making the most of my time before I go back to work. This weekend I paid my children to empty one of our attics. Everything has been sorted, and is now either going to the tip or the charity shop, or is in the washing pile (before also ending up at the charity shop.) The only things that have been put back are two 1960s Bakelite electric heaters that I cannot bear to part with, and a wallpaper pasting table.

I am now working my way through the washing mountain, and trying to evict the neighbour’s cat. (One of my cats objects to his visits.)

It was interesting sorting through stuff. I had no idea that my mother had written to Victoria Wood, and got a letter in return! I also found the letter confirming I was a qualified teacher; my children have asked that I NEVER try and get a job in their school. They have nothing to worry about - I’m much happier in my current profession. I found my Brownie uniform from the mid 1970s, and a micro-mini skirt from 1985.

Some really amazing finds! I love a good loft clearance. We helped my parents’ with theirs a few years back and found some fabulous things (inc. my brother’s ZX Spectrum, my dubious school artwork and Care Bears sticker album)

I’ve just finished getting through the holiday emails. Now quick lunch break, then fresh to do list with more urgent things first, including the things I don’t feel like doing. I might bribe myself with some Easter egg later.

OP posts:
YouAreNotMyCat · 15/04/2024 12:58

I could still get into the micro-mini.

well, I could get one leg in…

YouAreNotMyCat · 15/04/2024 13:03

I longed for a ZX spectrum. We used to record games off the radio onto cassettes, and play them on my school friend’s computer.

My DB became a computer consultant so it was worth the investment!

What’s everyone up to this evening? Chilli for dinner here (batch cook I made a different day) then I have potatoes to cook and mash to put on top of the cottage pie batch cook I made yesterday. Then clean washing to fold, then I’m going to sit down and fill in the calendar for the term (clubs etc). I haven’t had any Easter choc yet today so that might be the moment for that.

OP posts:
YouAreNotMyCat · 15/04/2024 18:25

I delegated meal prep to one of the children, so they are all having macaroni cheese while I consider my options. I can’t make anything yet - I have a cat on me.

StJulian2023 · 15/04/2024 18:45

Excellent.
