If you're a team manager in a corporate job, earning c. £30K, what's your notice period at work? Is 3 months normal or excessive for this type of role?

I'm on £33k and am on 3 months notice (have been here 20+ years though)

I manage a team of 5 and have a 'manager' title and so class myself as senior.

@Cheesetoasts £30k+ is not a low salary and we can definitely be managers at the level. What do you find hard to believe about that?🙄

LoobyDop · 20/03/2024 11:30

I think mine moved from 1 month to three round about that salary level.

mrstea301 · 20/03/2024 11:32

I'm on 3 months, in a team leader role, it's standard in my company and in my industry, but for people in my team it would be one month. For us it would go by job level rather than salary.

4 weeks.

WorkCleanRepeat · 20/03/2024 11:56

A Manager on 30K would be 4 months where I work. It's does seem excessive to me but I can see why.

westcountrywoman · 20/03/2024 12:25

To answer some questions @Cheesetoasts no, not charity.
And yes, I probably confused matters by showing salary. I just referenced it to indicate approx level of seniority. 'Manager' could mean anything from a supervisor on the shop floor to running a corporation really, but with a salary of £30K most would understand that it's not a top level job but does come with responsibility.

Where I work it would be 5 weeks for manager and below. Senior manager and up wild be 3 months. There would probably be room to negotiate though.

3 months where I work, everyone is on 3 months. Super senior managers are on 6 months. My previous 2 roles where 3 months also, I don't manage anyone. I am in 40K
My DH is on 70K and manages a large team, he is on 3 months and has always had that notice period as long as he can remember. I think its fairly standard. Neither of us have ever had it cause us a problem when applying for new roles

4 weeks here. I wouldn’t be happy giving 3 months to be honest.

Bubblegummies · 20/03/2024 14:43

Short sighted of a new employer if they have an issue with a 3 month notice period

imagine it’s more the recruiter thinking of their targets 🤣

Mazuslongtoenail · 20/03/2024 14:44

I think that’s excessive.

Bubblegummies · 20/03/2024 14:45

Oh can you see you said recruiting manager not recruiter sorry

it’s very standard in my industry and my company puts you on a 3 month notice after a year of employment too

RandomUsernameHere · 20/03/2024 14:47

Three months and not a manager. I don't think I've ever had a job that's been less than three months.
