Accidentally ingested perfume, first trimester

Hello

I sprayed perfume onto my wrists this morning and 30 mins later in the office I was eating breakfast, spilled some on my face and didn’t have a tissue so turned around to discreetly wipe my face with my wrist - the one I’d liberally sprayed perfume onto. I could immediately smell the perfume after I wiped my face. It wasn’t wet on my skin and had obviously dried but perfume particles would still be there.

I’ve been googling and some sources say perfume is a no-no in pregnancy altogether, who knew? But there’s a chance some has actually made its way into my mouth and I’ve swallowed it. I’m in the first trimester and really scared I could have done damage to the baby or cause a MC. I know this might be really irrational but can’t shake the worry!

(Yes, going to speak to midwife about anxiety at booking appt) but for now do you think it will be ok or is it a real risk?

Pfb? There's no risk in what you did, it's not like you swallowed a bottle of it. Unless it's Angel of course, then you run the risk of seeing your breakfast again.

You’ll be absolutely fine, op. There’ll be plenty of times that you have unwittingly inhaled micro particles of chemicals (cleaning the bathroom etc) but your body is actually very good at filtering these out. Honestly, don’t give it another thought.

I'm sorry to hear that Op. I was trying to be lighthearted and let you know there's nothing to worry about. You and your baby will be fine. Do speak to your midwife though. All the best x
