Limiting YouTube search results

DD11 has YouTube on her tablet with restricted content set to age 13, which I'm generally fine with.

However, she's been watching endless bollocks skincare videos and for a girl who always wore boys' shoes, spotted sexism at every turn and wouldn't be seen dead in a skirt, this sudden obsession with appearance is worrying. I know she's coming up to puberty and this is all normal but I'd love to stop her being exposed to charlatan influencers trying to get her to spend her pocket money on absolute crap she doesn't need.

Is there a way to block the "skincare" search term for her on YouTube? Because her current algorithm is just showing more and more of the same shite.

She doesn't have TikTok and I guess in the grand scheme of things, it's moisturiser, not class A drugs but ugh!

It’s skincare, completely normal and not a bad thing to be interested in. If you managed to stop skincare, she’d use other words and phrases.
Just because you think it’s bollocks, doesn’t mean it is and obviously not to her.
Feminists can also wear skirts and look after skin.
Pick your battles.

I get that but this is endless "can I get this" (expensive snake oil) or this (Temu knock off).

She already got Byoma cleanser and moisturiser for Xmas so I'm not draconian about it. Just sad that she's spending all her free time on this and there's nothing wrong with her skin.

Does she have pocket money? Then she save up for things herself.
Do you not use skincare at all yourself?

Do you think young boys are encouraged by influencers to spend their money on skincare shit or is it just girls who have to waste their income on this?

As I said quite clearly, she has cleanser and moisturiser. But I don't love her spending her brain space and disposable income on patriarchal shit.

And yes, I use a cleanser if I've been wearing make up (rare) and occasionally moisturiser. Sun cream if it's hot. I look more or less my age with skin no better or worse than people my age who use loads of products.

My son is a bit older. He will occasionally use products. He will ask for nice fragrances for example. Lots of teens, boys and girls want to look their best. It’s usual to want to belong, so if that’s the thing her peers are interested in, it often follows that she would.
She is having a different opinion to you and that’s normal preteen behaviour too.
I hope someone can tell you how to do it as you are convinced it’s all crap. Perhaps ask in the tech topic.

I feel that you were deliberately misunderstanding me. She has a full suite of products that are totally appropriate for her age, and I'm not at all worried about her using them. I also understand that she's growing up and is interested in her appearance, and that is all well and good and normal.

What is not well and good and normal, is the amount of time and headspace she has given to the care of her perfectly clear, perfectly beautiful skin. I was looking for tech advice on how to stop her YouTube algorithm, returning videos and videos and videos of people selling rubbish she doesn't need. I wasn't looking for a debate with you about whether she needs those products +20 others.

This is about unethical advertising to children, and how to limit it, not a debate on whether they should be allowed the products.

I am still open to sensible suggestions.

@icelollycraving Apologies, that tone came across a bit brusque and you're quite right, I think the tech forum would be a better place to ask.
