If you work in a hospital...

Can you share what's in the backpacks that the nurses have to take when they move patients between wards?

I'm currently in hospital with my daughter, when they moved her from the ED to the ward they had to wait for one of these bags to become available. I saw our nurse wearing it and thought she was going home because her shift had finished, then I saw someone else wearing it, then it came up with us.

Now we are on the ward I've seen one at the nurses station. Always the same red backpack.

What's in it? Guessing something for emergencies?

I can only think of portable oxygen but I don't think it would come in a backpack???

This. Normally for those at risk of having cardiac arrest.

Its a grab bag for emergencies, so if someone went down hill en-route or in the lift, they have medical equipment to start things off before the crash team arrive.
It will likely have adrenaline, possibly reversal drugs like narcan, airway devices like oxygen masks and gaedels, small oxygen cylinder, cannulation equipment and possibly intubation equipment.

As above, as well as a portable suction machine.

Will also be a specific paediatric one so probably not as many as say an adult bag as the sizes of stuff are different etc. you wouldn’t need one in itu unless being moved between wards or to mri/ct/theatres. We had a red grab bag for ward stuff and green for transfers to bigger hospitals. Usually 02 goes on the bed/trolley some of them have space for suction too. Thankfully I never had to use the bags, we just restocked them when things went out of date, because they weren’t used.
