8 or 9

UnravellingTheWorld · 17/03/2024 18:17

Mother never let me go to the park by myself; only with either an adult or a friend

FrenchandSaunders · 17/03/2024 18:52

@UnravellingTheWorld until what age?

FrenchandSaunders · 17/03/2024 18:52

8/9 here but we back onto it.

I'm still not allowed to go alone 😅😅😅 (I'm 32)

GraveyardWhistling · 17/03/2024 18:54

9/10 in year 5 with friends.

They also walked to and from school by themselves sometimes at that age.

Thanks for the reports - unfortunately, having looked behind the scenes we can see that the OP is posting in bad faith. We're taking this down now.

Secondary school. My DS used to go on his bike and was instructed to be back at specific time. Stay with friends etc etc. Before that I'd take DS and DD along with a cup of tea and my knitting and sit on the bench.

9, then more freedom to roam the general area from 10. Without a phone or tracking device.

mogtheforg3tfulcat · 17/03/2024 20:21

7, but it's a 2 min walk (though not visible from the house). She had a watch with a tracker and could only go if she was meeting a friend there. Tbh she's nearly 9 now and hardly ever goes out on her own. Dd2 is 6 and I think dd1 will be more keen to go and play out when her sister can go too

HippeePrincess · 17/03/2024 20:23

Once we moved 8, it can see the play area from our kitchen window, the park starts opposite our driveway.

Before we moved the area was dodgy and there was a very busy main road in between so my 11yo wasn’t even allowed to go.

SportNovice · 17/03/2024 20:29

6, but they had to stay in the part where I could see them from the kitchen window and always had the window open so I could hear any shouting.

9-10 could go anywhere in park if with friend or brother (both 12) or a parent of one of the younger children they played with, else still only in the part I could see.

11 anywhere in the park (95% of the time with a friend)

Changingmynameyetagain · 17/03/2024 20:37

In the summer of year 5 so 10 nearly 11.
They didn’t have mobile phones at that age so I used to wander down and check on them every now and then.
The summer of year 6 I let them into the local town centre with their mates.

Kathy34 · 17/03/2024 20:40

6- if I went with tish who was 7.5
7- on my own depending on the park

CremeEggThief · 17/03/2024 20:41

10, but in the summer between Year 5 and 6.
I did let him go out on the streets closer to our house from 9 though.
