40 and periods worse than ever.

I usually get a migraine 2/3 days before the bleeding starts.

And when the bleeding starts it feels like labour, 3/4 cm type labour.

It radiates all through my back and down my thighs. I get nauseous.

Today the migraine and period have hit on the same day, which has neve happened before and I've only just managed to pull myself out of bed into a bath.

I was hoping all this shit would subside soon. I had my last child 14 years ago ffs.

I'm done with all this.

But it's more painful now than ever :(

I can't take anything hormonal to stop them as all pills make me have constant migraines and sickness. I struggled massively in my 20s until DH got the snip so I could finally go contraceptive free

I have migraines before and after my period so was put on the pill continuously. Are you sure there isn't a different one you could try? Worth talking to your GP

What about Tranexamic acid if your periods are heavy. A friend of mine took this as a teenager. Before taking it, she would be off school for a week when she had her period, but with this, she still had periods, but they were more manageable.

Just googled that and it says it's for heavy bleeding.

My blood flow isn't heavy, it's quite normal. It's just the pain level that's high so I don't think they would help?

Have you considered being peri menopausal? I'm 45 now but remember when I was 41 my periods became very heavy, painful ans the menstrual migraine began. Dr put me on hrt. Stopped the headaches straight away but didn't help for my other peri menopausal symptoms. I'm currently waiting to get a merina coil fitted to stop the heavy periods

I've always had period migraines since starting my periods at 14 so they aren't a new occurrence.

The pains in my thighs started after my last child, so about 13 years ago but I feel like the last 4/5 years they've just gotten worse.

You may be right but I feel like maybe I'm jut getting older and my pain tolerance is just disappearing with each year!

Could be endometriosis?
