Is this restless legs?

Or something else.
I know it can’t be anything serious as it’s been happening for around a year but it feels awful.
Basically, from late afternoon to evening my legs sort of spasm by themselves. Either my leg muscles will tighten and my leg will go rigid for a few seconds, like a painless cramp, or my leg will jerk outwards by itself. Before either of these happen I can feel it building up in my legs, like a nervous energy almost. It’s worse on one side and the more tired I am the more frequent it is. It makes sleeping really difficult.

I’ve googled lots but nothing quite matches up completely.

Mine feel like they’re itching or tickling inside the muscle. So I have to stretch it or move/jerk it quickly to shake the feeling.

Not sure if that’s similar to you as mine don’t move involuntarily - it’s always deliberate to get the feeling to go away.

Try magnesium. This does sound like restless legs. Try getting a good magnesium supplement or a magnesium spray. This should help if it's restless legs. It can feel like torture.

Sounds like it. ZMA helps. Also, don't do intensive exercise late in the day/evening. Cortisol spiking will send it into overdrive. It sucks.

I think this is where I’m confused. I don’t feel like I need to move my legs, they do it by themselves, it’s like a spasm. I’ve caught it on video before, it’s almost seizure like.
I’ll look into magnesium, worth a shot.

My restless legs (all over actually) feels like I'm full of static. I find making my feet cold (standing on tiled bathroom floor) helps as does a couple of paracetamol.

My mum had similar to you. Her legs would jump by themselves. The doctor said it was restless legs. I have restless legs, usually as I’m trying to get off to sleep. My legs feel tight, as if I’m wearing really tight tights. Then I have to keep moving them. So my symptoms and my mum’s are completely different but both classified as restless legs.

Thanks. It sounds like there are a few ways it can show itself then
