Hair extensions - which type to go for?

Dd wants to wear hair extensions for her prom in July.

She has fairly long but fine hair and would love thicker, longer hair for the evening and to also wear on other occasions.

I’ve suggested she try the non-permanent versions so not to damage her hair but there are so many different types it’s hard to know which would be the best option and many are very expensive so I’m keen for it not to be a costly mistake.

Should she try tape-ins but do they not last long? Clip-ins but would they be heavy on her fine hair? What about a halo type extension or are they heavy and uncomfortable? Would the wire dig in the scalp? Or what about the u-part extensions, are they good?

It’s a little overwhelming.

I have tape ins but they're permanent (well my hair dresser removes them and refits them every 6-8 weeks. They have changed my life for the better, I have so much more confidence. My hair started thinning a year or so ago and was falling out in clumps. She suggested tapes and I know it sounds dramatic but they really have changed my life.

They are relatively easy to maintain, wash as normal but don't get conditioner near the root, and I don't think you're meant to let them air dry either, but I always blow dry mine.

They are expensive however - I have shoulder length bob hair and only needed them in certain places so I got away with one pack which was £120, but then there's the cost of fitting, and then refitting every 6-8 weeks.

ouchitstings how much do you have to pay for the re-fitting each time?

Clip ins, easilocks are really good but not the cheapest

@Silverumbrella £35, they do it based on the number of packs you use so £35 each pack, plus the cost of my cut and finish.

DrunkenElephant I’ll check those out, thanks.
