Uneven hips/back/shoulders

I’ve lost a lot of weight lately so can see my body/frame more clearly. My left hip is definitely higher and bigger than the other, and same with my left shoulder. I was initially worried about scoliosis (used to get a lot of back pain, and hip pain on my right side - which has been solved by a new mattress), but my boyfriend had a look for me and says that when I shift my posture and lean to the side a little (unnaturally) my back straightens out. So I’m guessing it’s a posture issue. My posture is definitely not brilliant but I don’t have a pronounced stoop or hunch or anything like that.

Is this worth going to the GP with? Other relevant points are that my right hip clicks a lot, always has done. And my left side is incredibly weak (noticed when i started working out), but I would have thought the bigger hip wouldn’t be the weak one?

It is getting to me a bit as I feel it’s very pronounced, especially in dresses. Does everyone have this to some degree or should I be concerned? And is there any way I can fix my posture myself? What has worked for other people?

You could try an osteopath (not a chiropractor). Mine straightens me out occasionally.

Everyone does have it to some degree but it isn't good for you and is something that can be improved with the right treatment/exercise. I prefer physio to osteopathy/chiropractic, it might be worth trying to get a referral or going private if funds permit. A physio can treat you and give you an exercise routine to reset the posture.

My GP was completely uninterested. I have always had an uneven body and it's now in my 40s with poor posture and lots of work stress that it's causing issues with trapped nerves, paresthesia, dizziness, pain, reduced capacity to exercise etc. Every physio / massage person has been shocked at my uneven muscles and commented unprompted as soon as they lay hands on me.

Physio is the only thing that has helped and I wish I could afford more sessions.

Everyone is a bit asymmetrical but bad habits/bad posture/sports can make things more pronounced. I don’t think a GP would be do much to help other than possibly refer to physiotherapy which I assume would be quite a long wait.

Personally, I’d go and see an osteopath. Some experienced and well-qualified sports massage therapists might also be able to help with this sort of thing.

In the meantime- Pilates and yoga!
