Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I've been up a while, just finishing my first cuppa now & thinking about moving to make a coffee. The girls were planning a lazy day so I'm not expecting to see much of them this morning. Lovely 😊 this is my favourite part of weekend mornings. Even better when the sun's shining & window wide open so I can hear the neighbour's kids playing out & birds in the trees.

The washer's half way through washing dd2's uniform & there are a few pots to do that I'll probably sort while the kettle boils. Then a quick tidy round & clean of the bathrooms and kitchen floor at some point.

I'm off to the outlet today, via big Asda to hopefully replace a storage jar I broke the other day. I don't really need anything, just fancy a wander for a couple of hours & want to have a look at the Easter eggs in B&M. The one in town didn't have much in the way of big eggs so hopefully they'll have more.

Dd1 said last night she might have a wander into town for a McFlurry before coming back to do homework. And dd2 is planning to sort out her messy bedroom/do her homework. I offered to help with the room but she gave me a funny look, so maybe not 🤷‍♀️

Not sure what's for tea yet - maybe something with salad, we've had chips a few nights this week & I fancy a change 🤔

Later it'll be an early ish one for me, as usual, after some time spent on my Eras Tour outfit. I'm making more tassels for my jacket & have made 10/20 so far. I don't think it'll need more than that.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning all!

@lucysmam, you'll have to share a pic of your jacket when it's finished.

I'm off out in a minute. I've signed up for a 'wet felted landscapes' course and it's morning one today. Later this afternoon, I'm taking my neighbours to a 90th birthday afternoon tea celebration (one of the neighbours I'm taking is the 'birthday girl'!).

Have a lovely day everyone and I hope the sun is shining where you are like it is here.

I'm tinkering with bonsai trees today, there's a lot of weeding to be done, and some need pruning and/or a repot.

WhatACluster · 16/03/2024 09:42

Good morning,

I have been up since 7, second load of washing on debating on putting this load on the line as it beautiful sunshine at the moment!

Dh has made the kids egg and sausage sandwiches for breakfast after they appeared from their pits.

No real plans for today. Dh wants a new puppy..and I am slowly being convinced 🫣 after the bombardment of cute puppy pictures.

The cat needs a bath and I’m not sure I want to do it today

@OldTinHat I've tried taking a few photos of it & the beads don't really show up well. I'll have to see if someone better at photography will help me! Your course sounds fun, have a fab day!

@Simonjt I hope the haircut goes well! Has your ds been excited for it? Maybe he's quiet about it because it's a first.

@lucysmam yeah I think starting with the kitchen is probably easiest

He was when he suggested it, but I think he’s having doubts, so lets see if he does it, and if he does what style he picks.

drspouse · 16/03/2024 10:02

I'm watching Merlin with the DCs which is our Sat morning tradition, DH is supposed to be taking them to a bigger bookshop in a different town later but he is notoriously given to taking a mild "no" by DS who has SEN and anxiety as "oh let's not".
I'm picking up my new-to-me bike soon though DH also doesn't quite understand the need for a new bike and keeps saying "but where will you put it".
Please help me offer pro bike arguments.

Good morning, it’s clouded over here but it was glorious sunshine when I woke up.
Took dog across the field to throw balls for her, a special treat; needless to say I lost one because she’s not got the hang of bringing them back but she enjoyed it and she loves doing zoomies.
Just having a coffee with toast and marmalade then I might do some art stuff.
I really should do some weeding but the garden is absolutely sodden, the grass squelched when I walked on it 😵‍💫. We’re on a hilltop with stoney, very free draining soil too. The field this morning is moss-ridden, I have never seen it like this in 28 years of living here!
@Whiskyfromsmallglasses i hope your DS recovers quickly, he’s going to be so sore for a while poor chap 😟

RabbitsRock · 16/03/2024 10:54

Morning lucysmam & everyone. It’s misty & drizzly here in Cornwall. Never known such a wet winter & now early Spring is soggy too! Busy already today. I was up quite early & loaded all the bags for the charity shop into the boot ( did a load of decluttering yesterday, mostly DD15’s stuff). I thought I hoarded a lot until DD came along! It was very satisfying & we can now get into our hallway! Next is the stairs which always turns into a dumping ground, the top of the banisters & mine & DH’s room. Popped to Tesco Express for some bits & bought half price kale for the bunnies. Unloaded & loaded the dishwasher & have quite a few loads of washing to do. We thought the washing machine had broken during the week but it turned out that the child lock had somehow been put on. Just had cold lamb tikka biryani for a late breakfast. It wasn’t the best Indian unfortunately. I’d asked for DH’s tikka masala to be hotter but they’d added the spice to my meal instead. It was still nice but not what I expected. Plus the naans were pure salt! Inedible! I couldn’t be bothered to ring & complain as if they’d delivered a replacement, we would have finished the rest of the food by the time the naans arrived. Off to work later then I’m on holiday for a week. Beef stew & dumpling ready meals for tea & we might watch a film. DD will be back from her GF’s early evening.

CaterhamReconstituted · 16/03/2024 11:12

Saturday mornings are normally swimming but the centre has called and cancelled it due to a problem with the pool.

Coffee and breakfast, then out to the park. 6 year old has requested somewhere specifically with “monkey bars”.

Awaiting a wine order later. Managed to get 4 good bottles of wine for £18 with a deal I had.

Some stuff to do around the house, then a bit of tele.

Not sure I can face phonics homework today but we’ll see.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 16/03/2024 11:17

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I'm late to the party today. I've been suffering from sinusitis but today I feel slightly better. Breakfast is long gone. I've been to Aldi, stripped the bed and washed the bedding which is now in the tumble dryer. I've tidied up the kitchen and cleaned the bathroom so I haven't been too lazy! After my cuppa, I'll polish and hoover. I live in a fairly small bungalow so it doesn't take long.
This afternoon I will put out the Easter/spring decorations and then relax. Chicken pie for dinner. Enjoy your day all

Taytocrisps · 16/03/2024 11:18

Morning @lucysmam and the Saturday morning gang. I'm still recovering from my appendix surgery and a bit sore today. I'm considering venturing out in the car but only for a very short (30 second) drive.

I need to book some Tesco delivery slots. And meal plan.

I'm also planning to watch the two rugby matches.

DD is at work. DCat1 is curled up on my new fleece blanket, at my feet. DCat2 went out for her morning stroll and is currently sitting on the window ledge, waiting to be let in.

FlorencenotRatchet · 16/03/2024 11:21

Morning @lucysmam and all.
Some Parkrun tourism for me today along the Thames. Just met my Dad for breakfast.
Heading home shortly and nothing else planned for the day so a relaxing afternoon and evening.
Enjoy your day everyone

mamaduckbone · 16/03/2024 11:23

Morning @lucysmam and all.
I've been for a run, had a coffee with Dh and a wander round the garden to see what's growing / what needs doing, and a long shower.
Not much planned today as it's been a busy week - Dh is taking ds1 to rugby and if ds2 doesn't go along to watch I need to help him with some English work and organise a revision timetable with him for his exams after Easter. Otherwise that will happen tomorrow.

We're going to watch Dune 2 at the cinema tonight I think, although Dh is unsure as it's the last England 6 nations game. I fancy going out.

Taytocrisps · 16/03/2024 11:24

@RabbitsRock we've had a really wet winter and spring here too. The grass in my front lawn is starting to spring up, but I'm not sure the grass/soil is going to be dry enough to mow it. Although I can't mow it anyway, due to recovering from surgery.

WarningOfGails · 16/03/2024 11:24

@Simonjt love the Young Royals! 3 episodes in but don’t think we will manage any tonight as got the rugby to watch!

I am currently out with the dog before launching into our round of clubs/teen jobs which will finish about 7pm tonight…

Taytocrisps · 16/03/2024 11:26

@Whiskyfromsmallglasses your poor son! Hope he makes a good recovery.

MissMarplesNiece · 16/03/2024 11:41

I've not long woken up. I've eaten a plate of fruit and when I've drunk my coffee I'm going to venture out to the supermarket. It will be my first supermarket visit since my abdominal surgery 5 weeks ago - it sounds daft but I'm looking forward to it. I'm still not allowed to lift and carry anything so DH will be coming with me to do the heavy stuff.

I noticed that the film Now Voyager is on TV this afternoon. It's one of my favourite films so later I'll be tucked up on the sofa watching it.

ShipshapeShore · 16/03/2024 11:45

Just been to Asda to get a few bits and pick up an order - server is down so I couldn't collect it. Typical! Now on my 876th coffee. Most importantly though, I have a wash load on the line outside and it's drying nicely!

I have a couple of hours to myself later, unusually, so I might have a bath.

@Taytocrisps you have my sympathy, it knocked my Dsis for six last year. @Whiskyfromsmallglasses your poor boy, must have been so scary for you all 💐

livingwithamigraine · 16/03/2024 11:53

I had a bacon roll.
Nothing to do today so just gonna chill.

Whiskyfromsmallglasses · 16/03/2024 12:20

Thanks you everyone for your well wishes. Yeah it was very scary and he is extremely lucky that the injuries weren't worse

DrinksbytheSea · 16/03/2024 12:44

We’re lounging around at home today because it will not stop bloody raining. I’m sick of it being so wet and grey! I had a long lie in and woke up to DH making breakfast. DS has been playing with toys most of the morning and is now gaming with DH. I need to have a little tidy up and put the hoover round. I had a bit too much wine last night and, although I generally feel fine, everything feels like a lot of effort. I’d also like to dye my hair today if I can be bothered.

Later DS and I are off to a friends house for dinner while DH goes on a rare, big night out. He’s knackered so we’ll see how he copes! I might pick myself up some biscuits to eat on the sofa in front of some crap tv later once DS is in bed. I’ve been eating really well so it will be a nice treat!

lucysmam · 16/03/2024 17:01

@LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand I have a few Easter decorations to put up, maybe I'll put them up tomorrow!

I didn't get any Easter eggs, the selection was rubbish 🤷‍♀️ I'm sure I've seen a good selection somewhere! I did take myself to the pub for a glass of wine and dessert though, that was enjoyable, and bought myself a series of books in The Works as well as a Christening present of board books 😊 I just want to order one of my favourite childhood books to gift with them for when the little one is older.

That sounds like a lovely afternoon. I've put up the two homemade wreaths for Easter and some decorations but they are sparse here compared to autumn. A trip to The Range tomorrow morning is required. I have a fancy for decorating branches with Easter/ spring stuff. I have a gift card for The Range I might use.
