Where is the cheapest place to buy clothes new?

If you want to buy basic women’s clothing, where do you think is the cheapest place to buy new? Charity shops are inconsistent and you can’t always find what you need, and I you can’t get underwear and socks for example. So if you needed very basic items: underwear, nightwear, leggings, basic t-shirts and such, where would be consistently the cheapest? I haven’t shopped in years but am on an extremely tight budget. I’m losing weight and need new clothes, and I’m still losing so they don’t need to last for a long time. I’m thinking maybe Primark but I have experience as I was too big to shop there before, and I’m not sure if they’re more expensive than supermarkets?

Try Vinted ( download the app) and have a look for BNWT brands and sizes you know
Underwear I recommend TU but they also sell decent quality basics
Never been in a primark so can't vouch for them

EBay or Vinted.
Quality, designer, well made clothes that someone's got tired of. Cheaper, nicer, more ethical! You can specify on eBay to only search in charity shops too.
So much better than cheap mass produced garbage!

I find TU in Sainsburys good for basics.

Definitely primark.

And so far my experience has been their leggings are the best around!

Sorry just read your post properly!! For the rest I go to supermarkets or the new tag on eBay

I have never looked at the clothes before but have bought two tops in morrisons this week. £10.00 each.

Morrisons do great clothes - I got a fabulous dunga dress for £10 in the sale a few years back and it's still going strong!

I’ve lost 14 stone in weight very quickly, primark and shein are the best options by far.

primark especially for underwear, leggings, pyjamas, basic T-shirts and sweatshirts etc

shein for any other bits and bobs (nicer tops etc)

Supermarkets are cheaper than primark these days!

And superior quality and sizing

George at Asda
Tu at sainsburys
Tesco

Completely agree with this. I clothe 4 children and myself in the Sainsbury's sale. Excellent quality and very cheap. Next clearance is good always filter to price low to high, same with marks and spencer. Basic tops from £5, bras from £10. Never buy full price. I find primary clothes expensive and crap- fall apart and don't do well in the wash. I've got three bras from m and s for £10 each and I'm wearing them for my second year now!

Drapion · 16/03/2024 19:06

*primark

VenusClapTrap · 16/03/2024 19:06

I don’t think you can beat the supermarkets, personally.

Icedoatlattelove · 16/03/2024 19:08

I'd say the supermarkets, boot sales, shein or some stuff on vinted.

14 stone?! Is that a typo and you mean 4 stone?

I usually gets underwear, socks etc from supermarket. Leggings from primark. Tee shirts from matalan. Go to more expensive shops if I need to dress up a bit but otherwise these shops do fine for basics. Jeans I get from bon marche.
