Packing cubes

I am looking to get a set of packing cubes, mainly for week-long trips. They need to fit quite a bit because I travel for work a lot and need to pack suits as well as casual wear.

I've looked at a few on Amazon but they seem quite flimsy. I'd rather not buy something that will last only a couple of trips or where the zip may break while away. Compression or 'regular' cubes OK.

I'm happy to pay for quality but I must be able to order them online as I loathe going out shopping unless it's for shoes :-) TIA.

I've had my Eagle Creek ones for over 25 years and they are still going strong, so would definitely recommend them.

Would also recommend the Mia Tui ones - I have lots of Mia Tui bags and they are all really well made. I saw a YouTube video made by Emma cruises and the Mia Tui ones came out top. There was a discount code on there for Mia Tui too - Google it and it will take you to the right page or look on emmacruises.com and look at mia Tui bags (a general look at them rather than just the packing cubes) and that also has a mia Tui discount code.

The eagle creek ones are lovely but very expensive and quite utilitarian - the MT ones come in a wide variety of colours and patterns, and if you sign up for their newsletters there are often offers on. Plus if you leave near Milton Keynes you can go and check them out at their little factory shop - most of the stuff is sold over the internet but you can go to see them too which is nice - it's a great local family business, which is always good to support!

@wibdib Nice to hear Mia Tui is a UK business :D I'll check them out if we ever need more cubes.

The Savisto ones from Amazon are good quality and wash well too. I paid about £25. They come in all colours and I think I got 6 in different sizes. Wouldn't go away without them.

If you’re on Instagram check out DonnaMay London. I’ve bought other items all top quality.

I’ve got the Amazon basics in 5 sizes and multiple colours. They’ve lasted dozens of trips, they are strong and sturdy!

I agree the Amazon basics ones are fab. I also noticed primark are selling them but can’t vouch if they’re any good.

I’ve read all these responses and I just don’t get it, can somebody please explain packing cubes to me, I’ve seen them but don’t know what the benefit is of having an extra pack to go in your case, surely that takes up more room than just putting your clothes straight in your case? I’m confused 🫤

They can help to squash things down a bit so helpful if you're tight for space.
Game changer if you are on a road trip so you don't have to rummage in your bag just to find one top, you can put all tops in one, all undies in another etc.
helpful to put dirty clothes in all together when you are coming back home.
A good way of splitting your luggage over multiple bags to mitigate risk of a lost suitcase if everyone has a different colour cube.
I love ours.

Really easy for packing. I roll all my tops in one, my trousers in another (roll always) etc. Chuck underwear in another etc etc.

If I'm going to a hotel I simply put the cubes in to the drawers and unzip.

If I'm going in the campervan it's to find what I need to wear without hauling everything out of a locker.

I always buy the ones with the mesh top so there the clothes are aired and so I can see what's inside them. I also like the ones that are structure free so they don't take up any more space. (look at my Muji link)

I see some people recommending some that you can't see inside without opening up and I can't see the point of those. Also can't see the point of those with structure as they take up too much room.

The Primark ones are not good, but the Poundland ones are excellent if you can get them (I looked for more this summer without success).

That’s good to know-I shall avoid the primark ones!

I've used carrier bags. I have way too many clothes to fit in a packing cube so I need to be able to squish stuff down more than cubes will allow!

I find them so useful when we're travelling with DC if we are going somewhere we can't easily unpack everything (shortage of space at place or short amount of time). I organise his stuff into different cubes, e.g. vests & onsies in one, shorts & t-shirts in other. Then when I need a specific item I don't have to rummage through the whole lot, I just pick out the one cube. I do actually do the same thing with my own clothes.
I also find them really useful to stuff electrical bits in like charging cables.

Thanks, everyone. Especially to those of you who sent links - I shall we ordering some new cubes this week.

I only use compression cubes, not packing cubes. I’ve been very happy with the Gonex brand ones from Amazon, we have those with and without the white mesh.

Mine are used about 10 time a year and I’ve had them since about 2016.

I used them when I’m on a multi centre holiday, to keep my bag irgahsued and so I don’t have to pack and repack each time we move hotels.

I also use them to get more into a small bag when I travel with a personal item only for long weekend city breaks. I can get a medium and small cube into the bag which takes up about 3/4 of the space and the other quarter is for shoes, toiletries and electronics .

Mia Tui cubes are good, although I have a cheap set from amazon £9, which are OK.
But Mia Tui bags are pleather or whatever it's called and I find they peel.

ahhh I like this idea, that you separate your items so it’s easy to unpack and put away, also love the separating of dirty washing, you might have just converted me 😊

I have several sets. What I regret is buying them from different places and they are too colorfull and took me ages to learn what is in which. I left it too late last summer and those which made sense to me were sold out
