Would you go to a pop concert on your own?

I really want to go to a concert of my favourite boy band from 00s but none of my friends want to go with me. I’m 50 this year and I think even at the time when this boy band was at the height of their fame, I was quite older than other fans ( I was getting to late 20s back then while fans were all teens!) - so no wonder none of my friends share my obsession!

I could drag my husband to come with me but the tickets are so expensive that I don’t want to pay for his ticket if he is not going to enjoy it anyway…

So, I’m contemplating if I should go on my own. I’ve never been to a pop concert on my own and I am not sure if I’m brave enough to go solo!

Has anyone been to a pop concert on your own? Am I too old to go to a concert on my own?

This isn't something I would have done; introvert here too.
But I saw Tom Grennan with dd last year and there was a lady by us who was on her own.
She inspired me to never be afraid to go alone.
If I don't have anyone to go with in the future I'm giving it a go for sure.

Do it! I have about 5 times, also been to a festival sort of on my own. Knew lots of people going as local but DH didn't fancy it so went and camped near some friends but got to do exactly what I wanted.

I went to Duran Duran on my own in London and it was amazing, almost better than seeing them in Glasgow with a couple of friends as I was only thinking about my own responses to the songs.

However I went to see Jamiroquai at a stand up festival at Lytham and didn't enjoy that as much, felt a bit weird being on my own in a big crowd with no seat.

The first time I went alone ,I had bought 2 tickets for Pet Shop Boys and my friend couldn't go , but i so wanted to see them .
I went alone ,on the train, booked a hotel, and had a brilliant time.
This summer I'm going to 2 concerts ,so far, on my own .

Yes I do regularly!

You're in a venue with 000s of friends with a common interest Grin

My REALLY shy 15 year-old went to a gig recently on her own and loved it. She made a friend in the queue and then another one once she got in. Go for it!

I do regularly - I'd never go otherwise.
Is it Blue? My friends just got tickets for them, they are very excited!

Yes! It is indeed Blue! Just love them!

Thank you everyone!

I think I will go ahead and book a ticket tonight for their concert in London in April!
I’m already so excited. 😃

Go and grab life by the horns! Life is for living! If anyone cares that you are by themselves, then so what?!

coureur · 14/03/2024 10:57

Yes, I do this all the time. I travel for work a lot and always look up what bands are playing in whatever city I'm in and go - much better than moping around in the hotel bar on my own. I've seen some amazing gigs this way, it's a great way to check out new bands.

As a teenager in the 1970s I went to see Elton John by myself and it was brilliant. In some ways it's easier to be star struck and enjoy yourself if you aren't with people you know.
