New to me, faulty car. No courtesy car?

Bought a used car 46 days ago for 21k cash from a branded dealership. Today loads of water came in from the roof on the passengers side and ran down the rear view mirror onto the electrics. From googling seems a common fault with the sunroof with this make of car. The dealership have just said bring it in to us to diagnose, we have no courtesy cars available, soz.

How on earth is this fair? I'm a new driver and my insurance to drive was 1350 for the year! Goodness knows how long they are going to have it for. The extended warranty says they can provide a courtsey car for max 3 days but surely at 46 days of having the car isnt extended warranty territory yet?

Ask your insurance company if they can supply one ? Obvs not ideal but maybe they will? Or insist they find you one ! 👊🏻

Or insist they pay for one if they don't have one ! It's not acceptable

Hamsternautss · 12/03/2024 20:24

Should they definitely provide me with one?

Yes if the car has a known fault and they aren't fixing it overnight . I would be pushing back and insisting on one or some compensation to pay for one .

If they don't have a courtesy car available then they can't magic one up for you.

Car forums tell me its a known fault but they havent said it is, just they dont know what the issue is until its looked at. At the point of looking at it is there some kind of time frame they should be diagnosing an issue within and then offering a courtesy car?

Ive not taken it in yet as i have no way of getting back from the dealership without a lift from my partner (no buses go there!) But i just find it odd the sales dude is just like "no courtesy cars!" Right off the mark.

The garage t&c's will usually say subject to availability. If they don't have one available, they don't have one available. You can either borrow or hire a car if you need one.

I know i could hire one, i just dont think i should be the one having to pay to hire one when ive clearly paid money for a car that lets water in!
