Selling expensive perfume on ebay. Am I going to get scammed?

Hi, I was given(unbeknown to me) a bottle of expensive perfume as a gift. Unfortunately I suffer from migraines which are easily triggered by smells and this scent was a trigger for me.

I have been having a house clear out and decided to put the perfume on for sale on ebay and a pretty cheap price as I did not realise that the perfume was expensive. Well now the bidding has gone much higher than I ever expected and I've had multiple people messaging me asking if it's genuine or fake.

Well of course, I know it's genuine but I can't prove that to buyers and now I'm worried that I'm going to send the perfume off to someone and they are going to claim it's a fake and I'm going to not only be out of pocket for money that is very much needed but lose my expensive bottle of perfume to boot.

I was thinking of ending the listing but there's a whole bunch of bids on there already. Don't know what to do!

Hmmm...I would go through the buyer reviews of whoever wins it and if there are dubious comments about them by other sellers OR too few/dodgy looking reviews, I'd probably message them to say you dropped the bottle and broke it, so sorry, will issue a refund. I agree, you could get someone saying it's fake, keeping what you sent which they know full well to be genuine and returning a fake to you for their refund.

I sold a bottle on eBay recently. It was genuine, although I had no receipts. I’d bought it at an airport when I was flying for work, but when I got home my partner didn’t like it. Nothing bad happened to me, and the buyer was pleased with it.

(I’m still sad about selling it)

There’s very little risk to you ime. Make sure you take good, clear pictures, most importantly the code on the bottom of the bottle as this can be used to verify its age and therefore freshness. And do specify in the listing that you can only post within the UK, I’ve not found a carrier who will let you post perfumes abroad.
