Desk for working from home

I have an allowance at my new job to purchase what I need to work from home.

I could really do with a new desk but I am overwhelmed by all the options. Any recommendations ?

Unfortunately my office is in the living room so it needs to be subtle, wood/white coloured and not too bulky. I would quite like having a couple of drawers to hide rubbish in though.

Budget up to 350 pounds. Thanks!

When I started wfh 18 months ago I wasn’t sure what I wanted so I bought the small top
and legs from Ikea, was about £40 I think. About 6 months ago I replaced the top
for a bigger one, it’s 120x60 and just about big enough for my needs. I have a monitor on a stand and my laptop on a riser.
I’ve been contemplating a really nice looking standing desk from Purus (or something like that) because when I do go to the office one day a week I use the standing feature for about half the day.

@sunights @Justmelancs this is the one I've got, I don't remember it being that expensive though! Maybe it was on sale. Really happy with it anyway.

Don’t know whether it still applies but when I first started WFH in 1999 DSE requirements in our company insisted that any desk should be min 1200x600 and any chairs should have adjustable seat, back and height.

Saw me well for 23 years, WFH pretty much full time.

Ours is 1200x800 now! 800 is a bit too deep for me tbh, so I just gloss over that part when I do the annual DSE assessment. I've also got one of these for one of the monitors (other monitor has an extending base so they're the same height):
ELLOVEN monitor stand with drawer, white - IKEA. Very useful for shoving the keyboard under if I need more space for paperwork / lunch etc, and extra storage is always good.

ELLOVEN monitor stand with drawer, white Placing a monitor at the right height relieves strain on your back and shoulders. This monitor stand with storage supports productive working, studying and creating – and helps keep the desk neat and tidy.

WE got the sort that looks like a bureau for my wife - I can't find it online now - figure we can use it for a booze cabinet when she's done with work. (It wasn't this one - but this sort of style: https://amzn.eu/d/cvVNsvd

I got this ladder desk from Futon a few years back.
Looks great in the living room as you have loads of room for plants, books etc so once you finish work it doesn't look at all out of place.
