Is public opinion changing on the merits of Higher Education expansion?

I saw this BBC article and it resonates with a lot of what I see here on Mumsnet and in "real life" ... burdening young people with expensive loans for attractive-sounding but unnecessary and sometimes poor quality qualifications from institutions fighting to keep their financial heads above water is not necessarily a good thing, and worth questioning.

Or, looking at it another way, he founded an apprenticeship training company because he wanted to extol the virtues of other educational routes.

Or it looked like there was a gap in the market. Who knows?

There is a huge gap in the market though. It's really, really hard to get a worthy apprenticeship.
It's virtually impossible.

I am not saying everyone who holds a view is on the right. I'm saying there's a lot of noise about this from the right.

It's not really a full discussion if we have to pretend this isn't a political issue as well as a social issue.

You don't have to pretend - in fact I'd prefer if you didn't - I just think it undermines anything else you have to say on the matter, because it shows your own personal political bias.

Undermines me with whom? I'm not appealing for support, I'm just a person chatting.

My comment was simply there's a lot of noise about this from the right - do you think there's something factually inaccurate about that?

I don't understand why you've got a bee in your bonnet about this really.

Edited to add: I've reread your comments above - you said using phrases like "on the right/left" as labels to dismiss viewpoints - I'm not using the term 'on the right' to dismiss a viewpoint, I'm using it to describe where a lot of the noise is coming from, politically speaking.
