Won't go back to school

Don't know what to do, daughter went on a residential with school for 2 nights, she was sick on the first night, I had no idea teacher told me when they got home, I was OK with that till I got home and found out my daughter had her first period! It was on her pants and pj bottoms! The other girls saw it and teased her badly, she said she told the teacher she felt ill headache and tummy ache, they still made her go hiking for hours the next day knowing she'd been sick! Teacher wasn't aware of the period by the way! She is 10 so it is early but not unheard of, I'm so cross with the teacher for not ringing me and not listening to her, now she is adamant she is never going to school again, she has always had problems with school and has regular council in at school and has had cbt therapy out of school a couple of years ago! What do I do? Other child is very happy and settled at that school

But she didn’t tell the teacher about her period so there’s nothing she could’ve done about it - I know it’s an awkward situation but she’s not a mind reader, to some extent your DD needed to further stand up for herself and tell her what happened in order to get help

Well it sounds like they did know she threw up, and she told them she had a headache and felt sick. So I don't think the additional information about the period would make a difference.

Poor child, may be see will she come round in a day or 2? Flowette do great period knickers.. remind her plenty adults have poo and pee accidents and body fluids aren’t always controllable.. and this too will happen to her buddies

I think you need to ring her teacher and explain that she’s embarrassed and they can speak to the unkind girls. - they do chat about periods in school and they have spare equipment if necessary.

Teachers often take supplies on these trips just in case so had they known they would’ve helped.

What did you expect them to do about the hiking? I doubt they had a spare teacher to stay behind and look after her anyway.

Obviously if the teacher had known about her starting her period she would’ve been able to get her some pads etc

I just wish they would have sent her home when she was sick, I'm only an hour away so would have collected her, she suffers with school anxiety anyway but has been doing really well lately so I guess I'm just so disappointed that I'm back to square one 😥
