What is your pay rise this year? Is your wage rising promotional to NMW

With the NaMW rising to 11.44 in April. The gaps between them and skilled roles will be narrowed. What are your employers doing about this if anything? Of course I think the NMW should be raised but so should all the wages in a lower income bracket. Why should someone who’s had training and experience only be earning almost the same as someone on minimum wage.

I think it will be 2% but won’t come in until July. Not brilliant but better than nothing xx

edited to say I work as a pharmacist for a private company so above the national average but not mega bucks.

I will be getting £1.30 an hour more.
My previous hourly rate would be under the new minimum wage.
I supervise a team of 12-19 people. Am responsible for the premises.
Still not market rate for my job.
But jumping from the frying pan into the fire is a big thing...

4%. My salary is fair for what I do; it's the tax I pay on it that's the stinger.

No pay rise, no bonus.

I had 8% in January (private sector), and just got another 2% for a minor job change.

9.8%. My contract is linked to the inflation rate, so the past couple of years have seen a substantial increase.

I work for a large UK bank, lower rung of management. Usually we have 2-3% pay rise each year which has been the case for the last 15 years or so.

Last year we had a 9% payrise. We knew it was going to be a big one because it was at the height of all the CoL panic.

This year it's recently been announced we're having an 11% payrise which was VERY unexpected. We'd thought it would be back to the 2-3%.

Not sure what your point is? I didn't say "only" on NMW. The point I was making is that just because the NMW is what it is doesn't mean it should be kept low to justify lower wages across the board.

I really don't understand why people take it as a personal offense. I absolutely think mid wages should at least go up in line to what NMW is going up, all costs will go up when NMW increases, but those on average wages, will not have the increase to back that up....why should our increases be less than those on NMW, pensioners and even people on benefits?....

I work in the nhs so any pay rise will be public knowledge anyway, don’t think there is an agreement yet because the govt were late again ( as always)! I hope the pay rise they offer is reasonable, especially for our band 2 colleagues. To know that they could currently do much less demanding work for similar pay annoys me so much.

everythinglooksbetterpaintedblack · 15/04/2024 16:38

We got 8 percent

anonhop · 15/04/2024 18:17

We'll get something (law). Usually 2% ish. Firm has done well this year so maybe 3%.
Head of departments can (with management approval) get individual high performers higher rises. So who knows!
