Approaching the 20 week mark now and starting to think about what i might need. Daughter will be just over 2.5 by the time she's here

Thinking:

  • new isofix base (we have an infant travel seat but the base is being used by eldest for next size up)
  • New mattress and sheets for the snuzpod and eventually the cot (I assume my eldest will be out of the cot by the time little one turns six months)
  • Baby carrier (never had one with the eldest but think it will be easier than a double pram)
  • buggy board?
  • new teats for the bottles etc
  • nappies/wipes etc
  • Changing table (we used a set of drawers for my daughter that is nailed to the wall in her room now).

Anything else?

Congratulations!

I’m currently 36 weeks with my second. These were a big hit with my first:

  • large disposable waterproof pads (the blue ones) for nappy changing
  • trolly to hold nappies, wipes
  • square towels to pat dry bum after changing (never had nappy rush)
  • bouncer
  • nursing pillow on me - life savour as he wouldn’t nap at home anywhere else but on me in the first months.

Good luck! X

Formula possibly? Breast pump possibly? Depends on your feeding plans. We used dummies with both too so needed new ones of those too. Colostrum syringes but we got them free from the hospital.

We did need to buy some new clothes and bibs etc because some of the old ones got wrecked and got chucked.

Our eldest has a lullaby music player thing which I think has always helped them sleep, so we bought one for DC2 too (not the same one).

Sleepytot bunnies if you are going to use dummies in bed.

Personally with a 2.5 yr age gap I'd get a double buggy but I know not everybody does. If you go on any day trips or anything like that your eldest may get tired and still want to nap at some point etc and must easier in a buggy. Also if the weather is chucking it down they're dry and cosy under a rain cover that way.

We had a just over 2 years gap so still had everything from the first one, no need for new mattress and sheets between siblings if it's been stored correctly!

I also didn't go for a double buggy and did baby in carrier, toddler in buggy but there were definitely times I wished I had gone for a double!

Somewhere in house to put baby down safe from pokey toddler.

Might be worth thinking how long toddlers current car seat is going to last them? Our 2 year old went into an 25kg ERF seat which left the infant seat free for the little one.

I would get the older on a new carseat that rearfaces until at least 25kg and then you can use the base or just strap the baby seat in for a but while you safe/ choose it will work out cheaper in the long run.
