Need to get to gusto in didsbury - arriving to Manchester by train. Do I need Manchester Piccadilly? Tram, bus or taxi from there?

The tram stop is quite a distance from Piccadilly train station. There is a free city bus that might take you to didsbury?? Ask at the train station and they should be able to help x

You can walk a few minutes from train station to Piccadilly gardens, where you will get loads of buses to Didsbury. The free city bus doesn't go to there.

Where would best hotel be if I want to do didsbry on day and imperial war museum the next??

If your train goes to Manchester Piccadilly then the tram station is directly underneath the station and you need to get a tram to East didsbury station. It’s literally a 5 minute walk from east didsbury to gusto.

There’s a tram stop in Piccadilly station. get on the tram at Piccadilly station (make sure you get on a tram that stops at cornbrook, most of the trams travelling south will do this), and change to the East Didsbury line at cornbrook. You get off the tram at DIdsbury village and it’s a 5 min walk to Gusto.

Or walk from Piccadilly to Piccadilly gardens and get the 142 (really frequent). This will drop you pretty much outside Gusto.

Depending on the time of day, bus will probably be quicker, but not much in it really.

Is Manchester Piccadilly or Manchester Victoria most central??

Mushroo · 07/03/2024 23:33

@Earlgreyandcake theyre both very central, but if you go to Victoria you can get the tram directly to DIdsbury from there without having to change.

Manchester isn’t very big - any city centre hotel will be fine, and you can get the tram to the imperial war museum and DIdsbury.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 07/03/2024 23:39

Train to man Piccadilly. Then train to east didsbury. Short walk to Gusto.

Imperial war museum is Salford quays area. Which area for hotel probably depends on what you want and timings I guess. You’ll be able to get trams between the two though. 22 mins by tram into town the matrix sign said. But I’m not sure about tram changes.

We are frequent visitors to Manchester and stay at the Premier Inn Old Trafford if we can. It's right next to Wharfside tram stop and can be a real bargain if Man Utd don't have a home game. Many rooms overlook the water. It's walking distance to the IWM, about 10 minutes, or 1 tram stop.

There’s a tram stop underneath Piccadilly station, it’s not a distance at all :)

The free city centre bus does a loop round the city centre it doesn’t go out to Didsbury.

vinoandbrie · 07/03/2024 23:43

Your best tram stop for Gusto in Didsbury is Didsbury Village.

As others have said, get the tram from the basement of Manchester Piccadilly train station.

Either will be fine, go with whichever is most direct for your journey.
