Ds is in year 4 and has gone in full Harry Potter outfit, hoping he's happy.

I suppose this is quite outing if anyone knows me, but I have one Katniss Everdeen and one Dennis the Menace.

DD and the rest of the upper 6th have all gone as Oompa Loompas. They didn't even have to dress up as it's just a non uniform day for them. I think this is the first time she's gone dressed as a book character in her entire school life as her primary school didn't do it.

I saw an adorable little Hungry Caterpillar on the way to the station this morning.

Dc school haven't done a proper dress up for the kast couple of years. They are having a pj day. Which is brilliant. Simple and affordable for everyone

Ours is tomorrow and she’s going as a crayon.

My son's class was split between superheroes (the boys) and princesses (the girls). I know WBD is supposed to be a bit of a fun but it was a bit depressing seeing them all conform to gender stereotypes when they're only 4/5. DS was an animal from one of his favourite books.

Our school did dress as an interesting word. He's gone in pyjamas as 'tired' Smile

GinnyWizz · 07/03/2024 09:09

Our school did dress up as a word instead of a book (inspired, IMO) and DS has gone as an entirely self styled volcano 🌋.

PJ day for us too. We had more angst over which cushion to choose than anything else 😁. (That was mainly me, as the one he chose isn't washable).

Some of these are great.

It was lovely seeing all the children dressed up this morning. Ds always went as a skeleton from Funnybones in past years.

It's my eldest birthday, so she is beyond excited that she gets to dress up too. For the second year running she has chosen the witch from Room on the Broom, as she has red hair and loves her (ancient) Halloween costume. I'm delighted as that costume has now had many outings (less delighted at having to make a vroom though). Youngest has gone to nursery in an old bridesmaid dress of his sister and a t-rex cuddly toy, as the Princess Sue in the Worst Princess (t-rex playing the part of the dragon). He is happy enough but has no idea whats going on. At 2, this is probably the last time I can get away with dressing him in his sister's hand-me-downs!

Dd1 is a chemist character from Six Of Crows which involved sourcing a jacket from Vinted and wearing wellies. She's year 9.

Dd2 is Grandma Josephine from Great Glass Elevator as she wanted to wear her pjs. She's year 6.

I was thinking this will tail off when she goes to secondary but dd1 secondary is more into it than the primaries! I love it.

This is the first year the school has ever done dressing up for world book day since we've been there (usually they are quite anti and come up with something much easier). I hope it's the first and the last time frankly.

One of them went as a rock climber with all her climbing gear and a climbing guide book, and the other one went pretty much as himself but screaming and snotting everywhere because he wanted to go as Spiderman but we had neither a Spiderman outfit nor a Spiderman book.
