Ive read that ginger has many health benefits and helps to prevents / cure colds etc - if you use it in cooking how do you use it and does anyone chew / eat it raw?

Have you ever tried eating raw ginger? 😳

For cooking, chop or finely grate and sautee in oil or incorporate into whatever it is you're cooking. You can also use it in smoothies or you can juice it (I'd include with other fruits/veg like cucumber or apple or carrot as it doesn't really have much juice to it).

Honestly though, if you want help with colds, take vitamin C and zinc. It works every time nearly either to prevent it or shorten the length of the cold.

I blend it (raw) with a few oranges, turmeric, cayenne pepper and black pepper and drink it either as a shot or sometimes mixed with soda water, I quite enjoy it. I have some every day.

I boil peeled root and then dilute with water and add honey.

I absolutely love ginger - blend up some fresh ginger root (peel it first) with apple juice and drink it as a fresh drink. Dilute with sparkling water if you’re not ok with the intensity. Other than that we use it in all kinds of curries, stir fries and even cooking fish/chicken on its own (probably as much as we use garlic tbh). DDs also like a bit of root in hot water with lemon as an alternative to tea. I’m going to try to grow a ginger plant this year, using an old off cut of ginger, we live in the SE in a very hot/sunny south facing position, so fingers crossed!

For a cold I thinly slice some ginger root, add boiling water, honey and lemon juice.
