Wondering if this is a good substitute for Prosecco?

I've had it in my pregnancies and it's nice and makes me feel like I'm joining in, not the same of course but I think it's nice

gamerchick · 05/03/2024 11:34

It's bloody horrible imo. Have an experiment, there's loads of zero alcohol stuff out now. There will be something you like.

ghostbusters · 05/03/2024 11:36

It's ok if I just have 1 glass to join in a toast or before dinner but I wouldn't want any more. I find it quite acidic and an almost artificial /chemical taste to it, but that might just be me. I had a few glasses the first few years I did dry January but I've realised I don't really like it.

caffelattetogo · 05/03/2024 11:36

I like it. Frexienet 0.0 is good too. Both work well in Champagne cocktails.

EndlessVortex · 05/03/2024 11:40

Nosecco is a bit bland I find, more citrus than anything else. I’ve been off alcohol since trying to get pregnant with my daughter in 2020, subsequently breastfeeding, then getting pregnant with my son and now breastfeeding again, so I consider myself quite the expert! My favourite is the Belle & Co version which is lovely. I also really liked the McGuigan 0% sparkling. Both worth a go!

(can’t wait to finish breastfeeding and crack open a nice lanson though!! Feels like it’s been an age!)

Alwaystired2023 · 05/03/2024 11:40

I like it but only the pink / rose one - the normal version is not nice

you can drink while breastfeeding, fyi, milk has the same alcohol content as blood so is absolutely tiny amounts

nosecco is dreadful stuff

mindutopia · 05/03/2024 11:48

I am sober and I think it's nice. I'm not really a prosecco drinker generally (when I was still drinking), but I like nosecco because it has a hint of rose petal in it, which makes it a bit different to your other standard sparkling wine alternatives.

If I had to choose, I'd probably prefer a kombucha to nosecco. I think the LA brewery citra one is particularly nice if you can find it.

Is this for you or are you looking to buy it for someone who doesn't drink? If it's for you because you're pregnant or whatever, definitely give it a go. If for someone who doesn't drink, ask them what they like as everyone will have their favourites.

RabbitsRock · 05/03/2024 13:10

EndlessVortex where can I get the Belle & Co one please?

Mrsredlipstick · 05/03/2024 13:21

Asda do a sparkling AF Sav Blanc. It's very nice.

LaChienneDesFromages · 05/03/2024 14:00

We bought the Waitrose Nosecco at Christmas to accommodate drivers and heavily pregnant people. The best way I can describe it is like diluted vinegar that had been put through SodaStream. It was absolutely revolting.

For non-drinkers, I much prefer the Fever Tree and Belvoir sodas.

heatherwithapee · 05/03/2024 14:04

Nah. Just get a fizzy cordial if you're not drinking.

No, it's rotten

But then I hate alcohol free wines etc

I'd either have the real thing or a nice soft drink

EndlessVortex · 06/03/2024 21:39

@ShirleyPhallus yes I’ve been told this, but I’m one of those paranoid people who, if something did go wrong, would immediately blame myself for the one glass I had at new years. Figured it was best to just abstain!

@RabbitsRock I just got mine on Amazon!

This. The Kylie sparkling rose is nice too.

Also agree with PP to try Kumbaca. I like the raspberry one.

0% lager tastes much more like the alcoholic version than wine does. After a while your pallet changes. I recently took a sip of my DSis's white wine glass by mistake and it was vile.

thatneverhappened · 06/03/2024 21:49

Hated it. The freixenet 0% is tolerable but only just

showmethegin · 06/03/2024 21:50

I think it's a little better with a little splash of tonic in it; takes some sweetness away

Bluevelvetsofa · 06/03/2024 21:55

Vile!

Honeyglazed · 06/03/2024 21:56

kylie 0% sparkling rose is lovely

Spudlover · 06/03/2024 21:58

The pink one isn’t bad, the normal one I wouldn’t drink again.

I find that with alcohol free gin too, the pink ones are much better.

Weirdaf1 · 06/03/2024 22:02

We had Freixienet 0% at a party with several pregnant guests. It was quite nice, nicer than the Prosecco provided by the venue.

idontlikealdi · 06/03/2024 22:04

Horrid. I'd rather a like and soda

mintich · 06/03/2024 22:05

Kylie non alcoholic sparking rose is fab!

Serencwtch · 07/03/2024 08:11

The only one I've found that's drinkable is Noughty but it's £7 a bottle. Otherwise kombucha, CBD drinks or fever tree tonic are better alternatives.

Rosesanddaisies1 · 07/03/2024 09:03

Freixienet 0% is better, as it’s cava it’s less sweet.
