Yes I know they’re rubbish but what’s the best veggie convenience food out there? I buy Linda McCartney sausages and Pukka vegan pies only because I want to cut down meat eating.

You can cut down meat consumption without resorting to UPF.

My favourites are eggs. They're cheap and filling.
Lettuce and hummus in a wrap. Hummus is easy to make.
Pulses are good - baked beans, green or brown lentils, chickpeas etc.

Quorn crispy nuggets in a wrap with salad.

Vivera kebab bits served warm on a nann bread with loads of salad and spring onion.

block of tofu, bag of stir fry veg, quick soak noodles or microwave rice and some soy sauce with chilli/ garlic/ ginger

I'm not vegetarian but my dh is we buy Birds Eye Green Cuisine Meat Free Burgers, I love them. Much prefer them to meat burgers.

Tin of taco beans, cheese, on a fajita, slices of Avocado, lettuce tomatoes etc. Serve with oven chips if you want junky!

The Plant Chef range from Tesco is pretty good.
I prefer Quorn sausages to LindaMcCartney's.
Cocktail sausages are usually not good.
Higgidy and Pieminister pies are tasty.

Cook Shop have a great veggie ready meal range, as to M&S, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s et al. Surely you’ve seen them in supermarkets? Fake meat products like Linda McCartney are not particularly nice imho.

Can’t say I have to be fair but maybe not looked for them. Tend to look for what I know.

A recent study found meat alternatives were not harmful to human health (processed meat was found to be harmful though).

Richmond meat free sausages are great.
Vegan Philadelphia is good.
Macsween Veggie haggis is nice and just needs microwaved.
i like quorn thin ham slices.
For a more whole foods option I love Bol pots.

Deathraystare · 05/03/2024 10:07

Jamaican pasties - make sure you get the veggie ones!

Richmond meat free sausages. I try to avoid meaty meat free stuff but even though I hated meat sausages I do love these - in a sarnie, with pasta etc etc

If you are just grabbing something from the yellow stickers section, check that it actually is vegetarian/vegan. Some things are packaged to look like they are but aren't.

NotFastButFurious · 05/03/2024 10:54

Quiche and salad or new potatoes & broccoli doesn’t require much, if any prep.
