Holiday tips - what do I need to know? 🙏🏼

I’ve been abroad loads and loads of times…but not for about 15 years. Have finally saved up our first family holiday to Lanzarote ☺️

We have 3 DC - 7, 9 and 11. Loads to do at the resort and trips and stuff. But I feel completely inexperienced travelling now. What would be your best tips - for at the airport, the flight, when we’re there - just anything really!

Take more than one plug adapter....we only took one last year and it was a nightmare charging phones and using hair straighteners etc.

I also divide everyone's clothes into each suitcase rather than one suitcase each, in case one gets lost in transit

If you have a British passport that is getting close to its expiry date, read the Foreign Office travel advice carefully to check whether it will still be valid for travel, as passports that were previously issued as valid for more than 10 years can now effectively become invalid before the date shown on the passport.

top of head:

airport - iPad nanny with loaded movies/TV series to watch, put electronics in one bag to quicken security, put small toiletries in a clear plastic bag.

the flight - hard boiled sweets that need to take time to eat to prevent ear ache on take-off/landing, dried snacks to entertain, magic colouring book to entertain, spare pair of clothes to change, just in case. A fleece type top as aeroplanes can get cold.

when we’re there - suntan lotion, aftersun, warm weather clothes, charging plugs, daily medicines, currency, tell your bank you’re on holiday via the banking app.

My essentials are
Eye mask
Earplugs
Small Justin case bag containing plasters, painkillers, immodium, rennies, etc. But you can get everything there tbh. I think they even have a lidl if I remember rightly. 😁

Take an extension lead and you'll only need 1 travel plug
Packing cubes
Take a pack of ziplock sandwich bags
Tea bags
Some mini bottles of concentrated squash
The buses in Lanzarote are fab, but your need € 10 or under notes
Just back from a week there, love it!

There's a Lidl in Puerto del Carmen

Apply for a GHIC (the post-Brexit replacement for the EHIC) for each family member. NB This is available free of charge. A website that asks you to pay for a GHIC is a scam.
