How to remove mould and mouldy smell from inside suitcase?

Probably something Contaminated a corner of the suitcase when we used it last time. Been in the shed for a few months.

Yesterday when I opened it, strong mouldy smell blasted out. I used 50% rubbing alcohol sprayed and wiped. It's half dried now, but still has the mouldy smell. Not much sun outside, so I can use the sunlight to kill either.

Need to use it for to pack for a week away tomorrow.

What shall I do now?

Wipe all the inside with white vinegar.
Then put bicarbonate of soda in a bowl inside the shut case. Hopefully after 48 hours it’ll smell fresher.
If the sun comes out remove the bicarb and put open case outside for as long as possible.

wipe it out with vanilla essence

Buy or borrow another suitcase for this trip, else you risk all your stuff stinking as rank as the case does. Or worse, it will stink of mildew plus masking scent pong. .......You might be able to rescue the case later - I've had good results with a stinky airing cupboard (caused by a leak that got behind the tank) with Neutradol gel things, they're supposed to neutralise the smell as opposed to to mask it. It took a couple of weeks to work, but my airing cupboard no longer stinks.
If you absolutely must use the case, then I'd wrap all my stuff in plastic so that any pong couldn't attach itself to my clothes etc.

Thought about using vinegar. But my fear is I'd be wearing vinegar perfumed clothes next week. 😂

I think I'd go and buy a new suitcase.as a PP said. Your clothes might smell after being in it.

I'd go to Morrisons, and buy one of the £8 cases that have been all over the news for your holiday.

Then leave the suitcase at home sprinkled with bicarb while you are on holiday.

Alternatively, pack everything in thick plastic bags - we have something like these and leave the suitcase in the sun at your destination.
