What are these insects in my house? Freaking me out!

I've spotted a couple of little worm like insects in my house. They're not worms as have lots of little legs. They're really thin and a few cm long. Anyone know what they could be or how they're getting in?

I hate anything like this so it's really freaking me out!

It's OK to be terrified if you happen to come upon lions, tigers or bears in your kitchen; perhaps a particularly hungry looking shark in your bath, but a tiny insect that has no way of hurting you is easily scooped up and put outside. It's going to be OK <pats OP's head>

I don't get the logic of this. You have to see them in your house anyway so taking a quick pic makes no odds. It's us who'd look at the picture on here. Not posting a pic necessitates other people posting pics or telling you to google and look at more pics to narrow it down.
