Tell me about prescription swimming goggles!

I've never worn one and not sure if want to bother to try it in a shop or prefer just order online.

When I looked online, there are way too many choices! Price range is not wide, but what are all the differences?

Can someone tell me what to look out for and which features are desirable?

I have a smallish head and lowish nose bridge.

I have a small head and I order from Asda, children size. There are great and cheap.

I got mine in decathlon, they do the job and were about £18 I think.

My prescriptions are probably too high to look from children's range.

-10...😳

DS had some (+6.75 iirc) They do do higher ones. He did speak to our local optician to tweak what to order though as compensator an astigmatism. I will see if I can find the company.

I’m a Dispensing Optician

It would really depend on your prescription. There’s quite a few glazable swim goggles available, coming in a range of sizes.

Maybe check with your Opticians which they can get hold of?

For my patients I normally have in practice or order in just the goggle to check for size/fit before ordering the lenses.

I bought some cheap ones off ebay and they were fine. Got a bit misty after a few months but so do most cheaper goggles.

Maybe worth trying first to see if you get on with them before splashing out (pardon the pun!) on fancy ones? I had really bad eyesight before I had lazer eye surgery so they go up quite high and tbh you're wearing them for such a short period it doesn't matter if they aren't your exact prescription -I just used them to make sure I didn't actively bump into people/could recognise my own family!

It doesn't matter if they aren't your exact prescription, I'm -13 and wear -10 goggles because I couldn't find any stronger, I can still see everything I need to in them.

DH got speedo ones, on the basis that they made goggles all the time rather than glasses. They've been fine, no bother at all
