Sunday reset

Having got stuck down a TikTok wormhole of watching Sunday resets I'm now thinking that it sounds like a good ide. I like the idea of setting myself up for the new week with things tidy and organised. I was wondering if anyone else did this and what kind of things you do. I'm thinking meal plan and food shop, tidy all of downstairs and hoover/mop the floors, plan clothes for the week and pack my bag/ get petrol.

Is there anything you include that makes your week go so much better? Or do you do a Friday reset instead so that you can enjoy your weekend without jobs hanging over you?

Saturday reset here. Laundry, light cleaning, buy groceries. Then Sunday is wash hair etc.

I do a Friday reset that's a big reset (ready for the weekend!) and small daily ones too.

Bloody love the TikTok videos on it 😂

My Friday reset is all of the big things - mopping floors, deep hoover, inside window clean, deeper clean of bathrooms (daily wipe downs but at weekends cleaning the tiles + mirrors, shower doors etc), deeper clean of kitchen (take everything off the counter to clean vs the daily wiping, run a cleaning cycle on the dishwasher, clean the oven, clean the inside of the fridge etc), in normal rooms I dust blinds, wipe skirtings (use a long swiffer style mop and it takes so much less time!), all laundry so the basket is empty etc. Basically on a Saturday morning I wake up to a perfectly clean house, it's the absolute best feeling.

I like the idea of a daily reset too, but am worried I'm going to spend all my time 'resetting'! Might need to sit down with a notepad and work out what time I have free in my week and what I need to reset, kitchen, bathroom, laundry, self care, clothes, food, car, finances, housework - the tiktoks have truly blown my little mind

We do this but hadn't thought of it as a reset but that's kind of what it is I guess.

We do the meal planning, ironing, bedrooms clean and tidy and the bathrooms on a Sunday. We also mop the floor after dinner. We share the jobs between us so it doesn't take long and I like it being clean and tidy on a Monday.

Although when it's sunny out it's less appealing to be ironing I must admit! Although during nice weather we do it all early and then have the afternoon to do something fun.

@Midgetwithaplan

The daily one takes me about 20-30 minutes, it's super quick to do imo and fits right into my day! Tend to do it after tea + sofa time in the evening, sort the downstairs out then the upstairs before getting into bed for the evening reading / tv time.

On Fridays it takes me about 3 hours max to do everything, but I do go deep into the cleaning 😂 some of the things could definitely be done monthly not weekly and sometimes I'll skip something if it doesn't seem needed!

Definitely write it down and rank them! Then hit the ones that make the most difference to you, I'd say for me it's the kitchen and bathrooms - if they're sparkly I feel put together haha.

It's a good space to be in! The videos are so motivational too 🤭

We make sure downstairs is tidy and clean every night, but only hoover/mop if it needs it. One of us does it while the other one takes the kids up for bath/PJs etc.

We do the same in the AM. DH gets upstairs sorted, beds made and their PJs/towels laid out ready for the evening. I get the kids fed and dressed, and then when they've left I tidy up downstairs before going up to get ready for work. I find this routine keeps our house pretty clean and tidy.

On a Sunday we do a reset but with less cleaning than you see on TikTok! We empty our cars of any crap, get the kids bags ready for school, put away the online delivery of food shopping, make sure everywhere is tidy and sort clothes etc for the week. Bins emptied, beds changed, towels changed, stuff like that.

We do a Friday evening, wash uniforms, empty bags, repack what we can.

Sunday is laid back, slow cooking and a general week reset but done in dribs and drabs with plenty of time for puzzles, games, chat, music, cooking.

I don't really like big jobs hanging over by Sunday that's a day for chilled whatever we are doing.

DrunkenElephant · 27/02/2024 19:08

Saturday reset here. All jobs and house clean done (after a lie in and coffee in bed!) and Sundays are for relaxing.

Delatron · 27/02/2024 19:17

I read an article recently about ‘how to have a nice Sunday’ and it really resonated with me as I seem to spend Sunday just sorting the house for the week ahead (and not having a nice Sunday) so doing all the uniforms, tidying the house, doing my lesson plan for the week.

It seemed like everyone was out for brunch, doing long walks walks, Sunday lunches at the pub…

So to have a nice Sunday the article said you need to start on Friday really. I get as many uniforms washed as possible and tidy the house. Then finish jobs like lesson planning and sports kits on Saturday. That’s the new plan. Somehow I was still putting washing away Sunday morning however for once it was done. I said yes to a walk and drinks at the local pub and had a very lovely Sunday for a change. Very destressing.

So I don’t call it a reset I call it ‘how to have a nice Sunday’!

As we both work Saturday to Wednesday, we do the Friday reset.
we do food shopping and house work - proper clean, bins emptied. Everything that needs refilling for the week - like the cat food cupboard/logs/bird food/tea and coffee canisters is done. Laundry all cleared. The weeks bin brought up the garden ready to pop out the gate. Cars refilled etc.
