I think aporoaching birthday makes me anxious/grumpy

I've come to a realisation I've had the past couple of years.

It's my birthday in a few days and I just feel meh.

Hubbie is going on about the gifts he's got me and worrying they're not OK... (This is standard conversation from him to me before birthdays/Christmas)

My son got his dad to order something, it won't be here in time, which isn't a problem - just typical of my ex really.

My birthday falls over the weekend we've no plans - nothing has been suggested or organised and I'm not sure what to do apart from eat out at some point.

Dunno just feel blah and I know it'll be fine but not bothered about it at all, it just feels like a stress for everyone.

We don't really bother with birthday or Christmas presents in our family. We sort of get to a stage/age where we all have the things we want and need and to buy more presents just seems like doing it for the sake of it and a bit commercialised really.

We do make an effort to do something lovely together though - a nice meal in or out, a day trip somewhere. The time together is much better than more stuff. You have to make a plan to do something though or the day will slip through your hands.

Have a look at something local that only on your birthday weekend could you muster up cooperation with the others to go. It would be "afternoon tea" type thing here but whatever is just you.

Then make them do and pay for that, be bright and breezy about presents, do no cooking get take away, film of your choice in the evening.

I do love an afternoon tea!

I did think of an escape room but it's pricey.
Or there's Windsor Castle
Or a drive to the seaside (2hrs though)
Can't remember what my other idea was now, can't have been any good!
