9 year old does not shut up!

Anyone else with a 9 year old daughter that does not stop making noise.
She's really well behaved at school and flying academically, but she's also very shy and I feel like she holds in all of her words and noises for when she gets home.
In the morning and after school she does not stop talking, singing, repeating the same word or catch phrase (usually from a YouTube video) or making random noises.
This morning we had her singing the same line of Taylor swift over and over and over. Then some squeaking noises, siren sounds, whooping, beatboxing, then the phrase "chicken macaroni" repeatedly.
It drives me potty. We've started a reward chat to encourage her to stop with the ridiculous noises, but her grandma says she's just being a child and let her be!

No help at all, but solidarity- DS9 is exactly the same! And always has been. I can only advise earplugs 😂

I feel really mean, but if I have to hear "it's me, hi, I'm the problem it's me" 20 times in a row one more time I might go insane.

I also have a 9 year old DD who's the same. It's as if she's being powered by a duracell bunny from the minute she wakes up to the minute she eventually falls asleep. Does. Not. Stop.

Yep, mine is exactly the same. He didn’t talk much at all until he was about 3( hearing issue) but once that was resolved he’s never stopped.
Talks lots of random stuff, but is so hilarious at times, it hard to get annoyed.

Omg my 4 year old is like this, he even hums while eating... I was hoping it was just a short phase but now it seems it might go on for years!

DevaleraSpawnOfSatan · 27/02/2024 10:04

Enjoy it whilst it lasts, teens are coming and then you will have to surgically retrieve information, having first applied for it in triplicate under an FOI request.😂

alittleworriedlamb · 27/02/2024 10:28

Haha true re the teen years. But she's not even saying anything informative or interesting. Just random sounds and phrases. It's even worse in the car coz you can't get away from it!!!

I had to explain to mine that not every thought in his head had to come out through his mouth 😂

Sprig1 · 27/02/2024 10:33

Mine is 13, he still does this. Sorry!

Mayhemmumma · 27/02/2024 11:46

Repetitive noises! So awful, my DD still does this... and she's 12! Knows it drives me barmy... we agree once I say stop she says 'let me do one more' makes the weird noise/phrase whatever once more and can stop (unless her younger brother copies)

DT1 was like this. She just talked and talked and talked, even in her sleep.

I remember one car journey, her sister was asleep and she was in the front with me. She talked non-stop for 3.5 hours, not conversation, just talked at me. I had to remind her to breathe.

She grew out of it and I have a grunting teen who occasionally talks to me. I miss it now, maybe not the 3.5 hours of it though!
