Do we want a combo boiler ?

Currently gravity fed system, 15 years old. Coming out this week to give an idea (boiler people).

Biggest issue is heating the water for four hours ish a day (am and pm) and then adults on shift/lazy/going out not having water because they are showering at the wrong time or after everyone else.

Due to CoL, and disability, five adults and one teen living here.

Radiators all fine, some have been updated more recently than others but all within the last five years.

This is the shower, doesn't seem to be electric - it's an aqualisa.

I'm a bit stuck - we would like the additional storage space but appreciate wet towels- what do you do???

We just want hot showers available really rather than heating the water for 4-5 hours a day and still having to boost it to fit with shifts etc

My first house had a combo boiler but the architect had designed massive storage, using every nook and cranny. They put a large storage cupboard where an immersion heater would have been but placed a small radiator in it. Result was a huge linen cupboard that you could hang damp towels.
You may be able to convert your current cylinder cupboard into something similar.
I’ve always had combi boilers. Invest in the best you can afford, we have a Worcester Bosch, very eco efficient and reliable. It is nearly 20 yrs old and has only failed us once ( pump). We had new double glazing last year and we’ve seen a 25% drop in fuel bills. Having an efficient boiler and a well insulated house is key to low fuel bills.

We have a hybrid combi and hot water tank.

4 bathrooms with 3 showers.

It works really well.

Our shower heats its own hot water so if the boiler goes we can still shower, use the washing machine and dishwasher

Yes. If you've a combi boiler an electric shower is a good back up

Obviously the dishwasher & washing machine are not reliant on the boiler!
