Is Tesco's website always this bad?

I am trying to put together a fairly big order for delivery to a holiday cottage and Tesco are the only ones who deliver.

My God it's a nightmare. Page crashes every other time I try to search for something. Everytime I managed to make an addition to the order, something else from it has gone out of stock and been removed. Everything in my basket just piled into one long list rather than sorted into categories etc.

I never normally use Tesco but this has really put me off. Is it also this chaotic and badly performing or have I just got rum luck?

get the app, it’s much easier

TheDowagerDoughnut · 26/02/2024 10:23

Good tip - thanks!

I’ve never experienced crashing pages, but I use the app, but what I do is book a slot, then add a couple if items to basket, check out and add payment details, you can change and add items up to midnight the night before, so items out of stock maybe available another time. We get deliveries for holiday cottages too, glad we did last year as nearest shop was about 20 minutes away and so expensive.

I agree. I usually use the app but I tried the website the other day and it was an awful experience.

SOxon · 26/02/2024 10:32

Yes it is always dire, as are all the others, Ocado rules

hellsBells246 · 26/02/2024 10:33

I use the app. I book at least one order every week and the app is usually excellent and reliable.

Nice to know that second home owners are supporting local businesses and the community in this way 🤥

Also, being Monday, many items will be OOS, but as Mindy says,
by the time your order is due, stock will have recovered, hopefully,
good luck

susiedaisy1912 · 26/02/2024 10:39

I use the app and rarely have an issue

TheDowagerDoughnut · 26/02/2024 10:39

Thanks all - looks like the app is the way to go.

p.s. it's not a 2nd home I'm staying in - it's a royal estate cottage, so probably more like a 500th home! And I plan to spend plenty of money locally on the nice things you shop for (cheese and meat, for instance), but just don't fancy carting back all the dull things (dishwasher tabs, bottled water for eg) you need from the nearest supermarket - which, of course would still be Tesco I was paying.

You need to review your disagreeable comment & nasty implying icon,
seeing as the poster didn’t say she had a second home, but a holiday cottage

20 minutes drive is no ‘local’ store, besides which it isn’t her ‘local’ is it???

mindutopia · 26/02/2024 10:47

I order on Tesco and have done for probably 10 years now, at least once, sometimes twice a week, and I don't normally have any issues. Sometimes there is an error, but usually it's perfectly fine. But I do tend to do it in the evening, so perhaps less traffic than if you are trying to do it during the day.

OP it’s a shame you feel the need to explain your decisions here,
only one nasty commenter, have a lovely holiday, stress free,
hope the weather is kind, don’t forget the corkscrew/bottle opener

TheDowagerDoughnut · 26/02/2024 10:53

Thanks @SOxon - it's a bit of a family get together as well so I am very much looking forward to it.

I don’t usually have issues with the Tesco site but it was awful when I did my last shop a few days ago.

Fucking hell. Bore off.

I help run a community shop that is about to close down as holidaymakers can’t or won’t pay a bit extra to keep 💰 in the community.

Well done.

SOxon · 26/02/2024 14:07

why would holidaymakers be using a community shop?

is this what you do when busybodying in Greece?
as
shame you didn’t rescue a ‘local’ dog

you cannot possibly justify your dreadful and rather bizarre comments
