Anyone else worried they haven’t got a pension I think at my age I would have to put more away than I can afford as a single person it’s difficult

It's never too late to start one.
Ok, you aren't going to have a similar lifestyle as someone who has had one all their working life but it is very tax efficient and you have 10-years to go before SPA in which you could build a nice little pot.

Do you have a work pension?

No I opted out as needed every penny at the time …I’ve now finished my mortgage so can save but not sure I could save enough to give me a nice pension guess I need a financial advisor

Have you made sure your state pension contributions are at the maximum?
You should be credited for any time as a sahp and if you have been a family carer. If you are missing any other years you can top up.

Downsize.

Start paying mortgage money into a pension.

Don't let lifestyle creep swallow up your mortgage money.

Check your state pension forecast.

Enjoy your life still.

It’s quite late. I know quite a few people already retired at 57. You need to put away as much as you can afford. Hopefully your health will hold out and you can work past 70.

Get some financial advice. You have a home you own which is an amazing start. Now save the mortgage money into a pension.
