Good Morning All! What are you all doing today?

I'm just about to drink my first cuppa, in silence, in my kitchen spot. I made it clear last night that there are to be no interruptions! Not that there would be, although I think I hear dd2 moving about.

We haven't got anything much planned for the day. Dd1's tired after attending several events after college this week, and a York Uni event yesterday, so already said she wants a lazy one. She will have to start her homework though.

Dd2 has done most of her homework so she can have a nothing-ey kind of day, mooching about the house, get an early shower, and spend ages faffing with her hair.

I plan to do lots of little crafty bits that mean I don't have to be on my feet much - I have masks to finish for school, beads to attach to my Eras Tour jacket, my dress to pin up & check the length with the boots I want to wear (dress is going short - boots are very long), and may make a few bracelets to trade. There's also dd2's school bag to repair and a skirt to fix the zip in, if I get to them. Actually, school bag should be one of the first things I do, when dd's up.

We're having bangers & mash with peas & Yorkshires for tea, I've been fancying it for a few days. Followed by early showers, and early nights all round 💤💤

I'll probably read some more of my book waiting for dd1 to get out of the shower - she always gets in around 9pm & it feels like forever waiting for her to finish off 🙄

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning ☔️

It's absolutely grim out, I went shopping earlier just for herbs and vegetables and came back very miserable. Don't want to go out for the rest of the day!

I was trying to find the kitchen foil as a new alarm has been fitted just outside kitchen (duh) and it went off when I made a midnight snack. There's an alarm just 1 metre away in the corridor, it's completely unnecessary.

I'm sorting out relative's place as they've gone into a care home.

Wow @Yamadori you're a proper collector! Would you share any photos?

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 25/02/2024 11:56

Taxi service for the teenagers today, mainly.

TheTorturedPoetsDepartment · 25/02/2024 11:58

I love seeing what people are doing. Some lovely days. I am currently watching Taylor Swift with my dd6, whilst singing and making friendship bracelets for the concert. She just told me, mum I think I will remember this even when I'm very, very old.

TheTorturedPoetsDepartment · 25/02/2024 11:59

Also need to do the 'big' food shop but places here don't open until 1pm.

piscofrisco · 25/02/2024 12:00

@TheTorturedPoetsDepartment I took my DD's to see one direction when they were I think 4 and 5-it was their first concert. They still say it was the best concert they've ever been to and talk about it-and they are 17 and 18 now and seasoned festival goers. So I expect she will remember it and the great time she will have!

TheTorturedPoetsDepartment · 25/02/2024 12:04

@piscofrisco oh that's lovely. This will be her 1st ever concert. I have 4dc and its just so lovely having something with the little one that's just us. I actually teared up a bit this morning watching her because I just realised she is so little, but getting so big and it goes so quickly. Must be a hormonal type of day!

Also going to investigate bacon stews as someone mentioned it a few posts back and now I absolutely need one!

OldTinHat · 25/02/2024 12:07

Good (just about still...) morning!

I've been up since silly o'clock, cleaning. My cleaner comes today, so, you know... She's just messaged me to say she's poorly and won't be coming but at least I'm presentable in the house department until she comes next week!

I met a fabulous guy in the shop yesterday (no, not like that!!), who clutched his chest in horror and gasped 'oh my god!'. He was on the checkout and I spun around, equally terrified, wondering what was happening! He pointed out a headline on my trashy magazine on the counter, said how much he loved them too and that he read them when the shop was quiet! The headline was something like 'my daughter predicted her own murder'. It's not a shop I normally go to, but I will now!

I've made myself a toasted sarnie (banana, cheese and chilli sauce) and think I'll bumble into town next to see which shops have closed this week!

weegiemum · 25/02/2024 12:16

We're travelling. Just did a flying visit to visit in-laws, involving a ferry each way. It was a bit difficult, as for the first time fil had no idea who dh was (he's got Alzheimer's). But nice to see mil (they've been divorced 30 years but we always stay with her and she's just moved house so was really keen to let us see her new place).

So we're headed home, should be there by 4pm then shopping for the week, tidying up, cooking and wine-drinking is the order of the evening. We left our daughters in charge of the dog so I'm hoping they've not let him get near the bin!!

AhBiscuits · 25/02/2024 12:25

Just went to the allotment to pay rent, meekly because of the amount of time since I showed my face there. My plot is not as horrific as I feared. I bought some seed potatoes and onion sets while there, which is me commiting to another year of weeding that fucking allotment 😂

Notthatcatagain · 25/02/2024 13:00

Im pressure washing the patio, nasty wet job but its completely green and I almost fell last week so got to be done. DH cooked a week's worth of dog dinners whilst waiting in for the Amazon man. Turns out that he left the parcel next door ages ago so he's now on my hit list. I've made some new ankle socks to go in my summer trainers so once I'm clean will give them a test run, so long as they don't wrinkle I will start another pair later. I'm sick of throwing shop bought out because they end up in a lump in my shoe. Found some leftover roast beef in gravy in the freezer, bonus points to DH who also found braised red cabbage, will do some roast veggies in the airfryer, job done. I've got to do what I call my Spa treatment later. I'm a bowel cancer survivor but my bowel no longer works so I manage it with irrigation. Call the Midwife with some knitting and maybe a glass of red medicine later

Good afternoon everyone, ‘tis tipping down with rain here so I intend to do very little this afternoon.
This morning I cleaned the bathroom and bedrooms, changed the bed and put three loads of laundry on, just one to go in the dryer.
DH took the dog for a walk so they’re both snoring. We were supposed to have a beef casserole for lunch but it’s in the slow cooker and not ready so we’ve had chicken escalopes with chips and baked beans instead. The casserole will be good for tomorrow.
I’m going to spend the afternoon crocheting a blanket, I’ll walk the dog later and then that’s it. I have zero energy at the moment, hopefully the GP will have some suggestions when I finally get to my appointment at the end of the week! I suspect my heart failure is ramping up….. certainly can’t do anywhere near as much as I could 2 years ago when I last saw him face to face (telephone appointments are useless for me, being deaf)
Enjoy the afternoon everyone x

FortunataTagnips · 25/02/2024 13:21

Afternoon! Currently waiting for a nice man to bring us a fuck ton of pizza. This wasn’t the plan, but DD has a cold and was completely
manic and didn’t sleep at all last night, so we’re just empty husks today.
Hopefully she’ll limp on to bedtime and we can all get a decent night’s sleep tonight.

Dogskidsdogs · 25/02/2024 13:30

Lie in and lazy start to the day. Few coffees whilst I watched DS2 play Fortnite. We then took the dogs on a walk.

Leftover takeaway for lunch- still waiting for DS1 to surface from his room but we all agreed this weekend was a lazy weekend as the usual football has been cancelled. He's currently trying to make progress on his computer game so he is more on a Level playing field with his friends (he spent an hour last night showing me his progress and explaining whilst I watched him play)

We have to stay in this afternoon as I'm expecting a parcel I have to sign for but this works as DS2 and I need to pack for his school trip. Dinner tonight will be homemade pizza 😋🤤

Kim82 · 25/02/2024 13:41

We’ve had an incredibly lazy day so far. Dh is hungover as he met up with ds whilst out in town and learnt that he is no longer able to keep up with a 22 year old 😆

All 3 girls are out (dd19 at work, dd16 slept over at her girlfriend’s house and dd9 is at her friend’s next door but one).

We’ve no plans for the rest of the day really, housework was done yesterday so I plan on jumping in the shower soon, ironing dd9’s uniform ready for school tomorrow then might stick on a film and have a glass of wine (which will be fun to wave in front of dh to watch him turn green).

Tea tonight is a roast chicken dinner then it’s homework, showers and bed ready for school and work this week.

Wow @Yamadori you're a proper collector! Would you share any photos?

Most of us tend not to, especially not of ones in our gardens. The things are eminently nickable. Mine need weeding and pruning, so not looking their best at the moment anyway.

About half of them I've bought, a quarter developed from garden centre shrubs and things, and the rest I've propagated, from cuttings, layers and seeds. It's quite good fun, and rather addictive... you should try it. Anything with a woody stem that is hardy in the UK climate is worth a go. I don't have any indoors at all, apart from one tropical thing, the name of which I can't remember except it has z's in it.

VenusClapTrap · 25/02/2024 15:17

I will have a go at some stage I’m sure. Right now I’ve got enough on with all my plants as it is!

Eggsley · 25/02/2024 15:20

Afternoon @lucysmam and all! We were up early and out to a car boot sale where we picked up a couple of bits. Then went to the garden centre for breakfast and so DS2 could burn off some energy on the soft play there. I bought some new plant pots for my indoor plants. Then I went over to see my parents for a cuppa as they are off on holiday tomorrow for a fortnight. Popped to big Tesco to get DS1s lunches for the week and some garlic bread to go with dinner.

Currently we are all chilling in the living room. DH is watching football. DS2 is gaming and providing a running commentary. Dog is demanding attention at all times and pawing at me if I stop scratching him. I am awaiting a summons to pick DS1 up when he gets back from cadets camp. No ETA as yet, I'm not sure they've even left the base yet.

Spag bol for dinner, with garlic bread, and catching up with last night's Gladiators. Then baths, reading for DS2, and bed. Early nights all round I think as we have a busy week coming up!

Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday!

ssd · 25/02/2024 16:45

Im very late to thread, not like me but i was up and off early today to meet my friend, had a nice coffee and breakfast roll then a wander in the shops. Back home now. Hope you all have a lovely day Smile

mondaytosunday · 25/02/2024 17:31

Such a miserable rainy day! I'm visiting my son and he kindly took the dogs for a long wet walk this morning. Our goal today was to just do a food shop - he worked yesterday and I saw friends and did a bit of shopping (sheets, pillows etc) for him.
We went out to brunch then a shop and couldn't get back home quick enough! I'm now lying in bed on my phone and he's putting all the groceries away. I'll cook a lasagna later then we'll watch a movie. Guess I better get started on that soon!
