Tooth sensitivity after filling - ideas to help?

I had a large filling in November, and the tooth has been sensitive to temperature since. It doesn't hurt any other time but it's stopping me enjoying hot food and coffee. We aren't even talking mega hot, just more than lukewarm. But it's fine with ice cream/cold.

Dentist has confirmed no actual ongoing problems and done x-ray to check. I've tried prescription strength NSAIDS for a week, no effect. Is there anything else that could get rid of the sensitivity?

Would it help to eat solely cold food and drink for a while to let it 'settle'? If so how long for?

My dentist advised me to put a little bit of Sensodyne on mine.

@maddiemookins16mum how many days/weeks for? And did it work?

Yes. Sensodyne.

I tend to clean my teeth as normal then put a blob of Sensodyne on my finger and rub it round the sensitive tooth/teeth and leave it there for bed/overnight.

My dentist advised the same as PPs when I had a filling replaced just before starting Invisalign.

Okay I will look into sensodyne then! Do you have to use it forever?

Not necessarily. I only use it for a couple of days then the sensitivity dies down. But it does come back again for me. You might be different though.
