Just got my bill, United Utilities, £552 this year, over £100 more than last year. Outrageous 😡

Ratfinkstinkypink · 21/02/2024 20:34

Essex and Suffolk Water, £16 a month, 1 adult, 1 child with disabilities so lots of water usage, and no meter as they don't know where the supply comes into the house and think all of the houses might share a common supply.

NewName24 · 21/02/2024 20:44

£719 for the year, up from £630 last year Angry

For some odd reason our payments are over 8 months of the year only, so we pay a smidge under £90 per month for those 8 months.

Am very jealous of many of you

2 of us pay £18 a month. We save as much as possible eg collect shower water in a bucket for flushing. I do a full shower less often and make clothes last longer.

I have just found this thread after opening my water bill. Wait for it ..... £1,662.55 per year!

We are in the north west with United Utilities. To be fair, we do have a small swimming pool. Even so, we don't refill it every year, just top it up in the summer. And almost £1k of the total amount is drainage.

We did look into a meter, but apparently we would need two (with two standing charges) and some pretty messy work (which could damage our property) to fit them.

chocolateanddietcoke · 26/02/2024 11:06

NW and 45 a month

ACLtd · 26/02/2024 11:11

I pay £12 pcm to Portsmouth Water for clean and £21 pcm for Southern Water for waste. Non metered as I do so much washing (uniforms all round!) Southern Water told me I would be better off without one haha!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 26/02/2024 11:26

I think ours is about £30-£40 a month (DH pays). Everyone in the road had letters telling us we had to have a meter but then they realised they can't do it for any of the maisonettes so we'll be staying on rates.

Minikievs · 26/02/2024 11:29

£48 pm. Not metered. Midlands.
One adult two kids in a 70s style 3 bed semi

My water charges dropped a huge amount when I got put on a water meter (they did the whole street) - Thames water. It’s 83p a day now so about £25 a month. Unmetered paid about £70.
3 of us I don’t do anything which i would consider to be over the top to save water. We shower/bath almost every day. I don’t wash cars or water the garden much, kids taught not to leave taps on. Use the washing machine and dishwasher most days sometimes more than once.

IncompleteSenten · 26/02/2024 11:38

640 odd for the year. Severn trent

Vettrianofan · 26/02/2024 11:40

No idea. I am in Scotland.

SaffyWall · 26/02/2024 11:40

£18 per month for a small, unmetered, house with Yorkshire Water. We have a septic tank though so don't pay any drainage at all.

NewName24 · 26/02/2024 16:17

It's crazy how hugely different these amounts are - particularly for those not on meters, so it isn't a reflection of how much you are using, like other utilities are.
