Do you have an Apple Watch?

Do you like it? Which do you have? Do you feel like you're being followed and spied on all the time? How much about your life does it really know? Can you see your family members fitness and activity levels, can they see yours? Is it weird feeling you're being watched?

Do you find it helpful and or motivating for sports (biking, Pilates, swimming, walking) and keeping track of what you've done? I've got a Suunto but it's so big and awkward that I only ever wear it if I'm doing sport, never all day. DH has offered me one (he has the ultra, but I think it might be too big for me) and I really can't decide if it's too smart for me!

@ErrolTheDragon at the moment my apple health app is linked to the insurance app (have to complete a certain amount to activities in the insurance app to get a discount) and my watch app is linked to my apple health app. The watch app and apple health don't link effectively so not all my data is transmitted to the insurance. With an Apple Watch, I think it would.

Assuming it's vitality.

When you set up your watch as an input to vitality (which you don't have to do, you can use an app like pacer and link that to vitality) you choose which aspects of your health data you want to share. You can limit it to steps and workouts or expand it to everything, your choice.

Battery life is shit if you’re used to a Fitbit that goes on for days but it does charge quickly.

Biggest new discovery for me is being able to use it for ApplePay on the tube as hate having my phone in my hand when it’s busy in the mornings.

Didn’t like the straps it came with but knock off replacements are cheap.

Got an SE as there's only so much I'm prepared for a watch. My primary use for it is finding my phone when I've left it somewhere, closely followed by a gentle alarm in the morning (just vibrate) and receiving messages without having to take my phone out.

When it dies, I'll get another one. Might even splash out to one that measures blood oxygen etc (I was looking at refurb v6s and they're about 250 EUR now, which isn't bad)

Oh, yes, the straps are an ongoing issue (plastic ones get sweaty and stinky, the sports fabric one looked tatty and broke after a couple of years, I'm trying an elasticated one now, which isn't bad. And having to charge it every day sucks compared to my old Xiomi thing - but mine is about 4 years old now, so the new ones might be better.

Oh, I didn't know you could do that re health insurance. If it's optional to get a discount then what's the problem?

Mine seems fine. DH got some non-apple ones off Amazon, they're not expensive and seem ok.

I've had the same white rubber strap on mine for 4 years and it's as good as new, doesn't get smelly or sweaty. I don't sleep in it though and never wear it in the shower so my wrist gets cleaned then. I also swim in it about once a week and occasionally clean it with a bit of hand sanitiser on a cloth.
