Positive hypnotherapy stories?

My DD is 11, she has a habit she cannot break, we've done private counselling, stuff with school etc but it's a thing she can't seem to stop. It's not nail biting or anything like an eating disorder but it is upsetting her and causing issues.

Hypnotherapy was recently recommended and though its not cheap, we found a suitable one and we're starting this week. I'll be with her, the hypnotherapist is female and though she's been reluctant to try things in the past, she seems to be on board after a chat with the woman via Teams recently.

We're all desperate for it to work, including her, it makes me so sad to see her like she is now.

I'm looking to hear positive stories if you have any?

I've used hypnotherapy several times and I found it to be really effective. Now it's hard to know if there is a causal relationship between the hypnotherapy and the behaviour changes, but it certainly didn't hurt and I saw a lot of improvement. I used it for birth, as many women do, but I also used it to help with some anxiety I had around breastfeeding. And I used it in the past for substance use related issues. I think there is absolutely no harm in trying.

I do think it has to become a bit part of regular practice. So I don't know how your practitioner works, but I found that having audio recordings of a session and listening to them 2-3 times a week was really helpful. Not forever, but for a couple months. I don't know if you're just planning a few face-to-face sessions or whatever, but I would ask if there is a possibility of having recordings made that she can use at home on her own.

Thanks @mindutopia she will be giving us (her) a recording to listen to in bed.

@ElsaMars Read your initial post with interest. Just wondered if the hypnotherapy was a positive experience for your DD and helped her to break the habit that she had acquired. I am considering this for a similar compulsive habit.
